The Indian Coast Guard Assistant Commandant 01/2024 application is closed. Applications were accepted from 25 January 2023 at 11:00 a.m. until 9 February 2023 at 5:00 p.m., according to the official notice. The old application link is not a current opportunity; check the official Coast Guard recruitment page for present notices.

The Indian Coast Guard’s notice set the online application window for Assistant Commandant 01/2024 from 25 January 2023 at 11:00 a.m. through 9 February 2023 at 5:00 p.m. The deadline has passed. A contemporaneous Scroll report gave the closing time as 5:30 p.m.; use the official notice’s stated 5:00 p.m. deadline as the controlling date and time.
During the historical application window, candidates were directed to register online at joinindiancoastguard.cdac.in. Do not treat that old cycle as an active application. The Coast Guard recruitment listing later showed notices for 2026, so applicants should verify current openings and instructions on the official recruitment site.

The notice listed 81 tentative vacancies. It said numbers could change depending on training slots.

Eligibility by entry
Eligibility depended on the entry. The birth-date ranges below are inclusive. These are summary criteria from the notice; branch-specific degree lists, exceptions and relaxations should be checked in the original notice before using them to assess an individual case.
General Duty
- Male candidates born from 1 July 1998 through 30 June 2002.
- A recognized university degree with at least 60% aggregate marks.
- Physics and Mathematics through Intermediate/Class XII or equivalent, with at least 55% aggregate in those subjects.
Commercial Pilot Licence (CPL-SSA)
- Male or female candidates born from 1 July 1998 through 30 June 2004.
- Class XII or equivalent with Physics and Mathematics and at least 55% aggregate in those subjects, or the qualifying diploma route described in the notice.
- A current Commercial Pilot Licence issued or validated by the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) on the application date.
Technical—Mechanical
- Male candidates born from 1 July 1998 through 30 June 2002.
- An engineering degree with at least 60% aggregate in a discipline listed in the notice, including Naval Architecture, Mechanical, Marine, Automotive, Mechatronics, Industrial and Production, Metallurgy, Design, Aeronautical or Aerospace engineering.
- The required Physics and Mathematics marks at Class XII, or the qualifying diploma route specified in the notice.
Technical—Electrical/Electronics
- Male candidates born from 1 July 1998 through 30 June 2002.
- An engineering degree with at least 60% aggregate in an Electrical/Electronics or related discipline listed in the notice.
- The required Physics and Mathematics marks at Class XII, or the qualifying diploma route specified in the notice.
Law
- Male or female candidates born from 1 July 1994 through 30 June 2002.
- A recognized university Law degree with at least 60% aggregate marks.
Relaxations and edge cases
The notice limited SC/ST and OBC (non-creamy layer) age relaxations to cases where posts were reserved for those categories. It also provided a five-year relaxation for specified serving personnel, depending on the branch. SC/ST degree-mark relaxation was capped at 5%, subject to stated exceptions. Because these conditions vary by entry and circumstance, consult the original notice rather than assuming a relaxation applies.

Selection process and CGCAT format
Selection was an all-India merit process with five required stages:
- Stage I — CGCAT: a two-hour computer-based test in English, with 100 multiple-choice questions. Each correct answer carried four marks and each incorrect answer incurred a one-mark deduction. Subject sections varied by entry.
- Stage II — Preliminary Selection Board (PSB): computerized cognitive testing followed by picture perception and discussion.
- Stage III — Final Selection Board (FSB): psychological tests, group tasks and an interview.
- Stage IV — Medical examination.
- Stage V — Induction.
Historical application fee
Scroll reported a ₹250 application fee for this 2023 application cycle, with SC/ST candidates exempt. This describes the closed 01/2024 process, not a fee or payment instruction for any current recruitment.
