TechCrunch and the company’s counsel, Fenwick, reported the round as $9 million, so the total depends on the source. The announcement came on October 29, 2024; the company then forecast customer deliveries in 2025, a projection rather than confirmation of when deliveries began.
What Infinite Machine announced
New York-based Infinite Machine was founded by brothers Joseph and Eddie Cohen. The company’s stated mission is to build “the best non-cars on earth,” and it describes P1 as a reimagined electric seated scooter. Joseph Cohen, co-founder and CEO, called P1 “the first step in our vision of a post-car future” in the company’s October 29, 2024 announcement.
The company named Adjacent Capital, Necessary Ventures, Otherwise Fund, founders of Reformation, Replit and Hugging Face, and Formula 1 champion Nico Rosberg through Rosberg Ventures as additional participants. TechCrunch’s coverage and Fenwick’s transaction note each described the financing as $9 million. The amounts should be attributed rather than treated as a single independently reconciled figure.
Infinite Machine said the funding would support P1 production and its market launch. It was not announced as an acquisition or a consumer subsidy. TechCrunch reported that the company planned direct sales and that the founders expected to start small, including hand-delivering vehicles rather than immediately outsourcing delivery and logistics. Those were plans reported at the time, not confirmation of the company’s current delivery operations.

What the funding does—and does not—tell a buyer
The investment signals that the company intended to finance a production and launch effort around a premium, design-forward electric two-wheeler. It does not establish that the scooter will replace a car economically, that the stated range will match every rider’s experience, or that the 2024 delivery forecast was met. Those questions require current delivery and ownership information as well as a rider’s own assessment of route, charging access, licensing, insurance and total cost.
David Ulevitch, a general partner at a16z American Dynamism, told TechCrunch that “companies like Infinite Machine are pushing the boundaries on building futuristic urban transit with their first product P1.” Joseph Cohen told the outlet that early failures elsewhere in the electric two-wheeler category had made some investors wary, while arguing that the experience and infrastructure left behind could help new entrants. These are attributed views from the investors and founders, not independent evidence of category-wide demand or commercial viability.
