In November 2021, TechCrunch reported that Indian used-car platform Spinny had raised more than $280 million in a Series E funding round at a post-money valuation above $1.75 billion. Those terms came from an unnamed source familiar with the round; a December account of Spinny’s announcement reported slightly different figures and investors. Neither figure describes Spinny’s present-day valuation.

What Spinny’s November 2021 funding report said

TechCrunch reported on November 24, 2021, that Spinny raised more than $280 million in a Series E round co-led by Tiger Global and Abu Dhabi Growth Fund. It put the company’s post-money valuation at more than $1.75 billion, citing a source familiar with the deal who requested anonymity. TechCrunch’s November 2021 report also said Spinny had been valued at about $700 million in July 2021 and $350 million in April 2021.

Why a December account gives different terms

Mint reported on December 7, 2021, on Spinny’s announcement of the Series E. That account described a $283 million round led by ADQ, Tiger Global, and Avenir Growth, comprising $250 million in primary capital and about $33 million in secondary sales, at an approximately $1.8 billion valuation. Mint’s account is close to, but not identical with, TechCrunch’s earlier report.

The reports differ in the round total, valuation, and investor names: the November story names Abu Dhabi Growth Fund, while the December account names ADQ and Avenir Growth in addition to Tiger Global. The available accounts do not establish whether those differences reflect reporting timing, rounding, or a change in the investor list. They should be read as separately attributed reports, not combined into a single more precise set of terms.

What Spinny does

Spinny is a used-car retailing platform based in Gurugram, also called Gurgaon in 2021 coverage. TechCrunch described a model in which the company bought cars from owners, inspected them, and listed them for customers, addressing the trust concerns associated with used-car transactions. That description is the publication’s account of Spinny’s process, not an independent measure of vehicle quality or transaction risk.

Spinny describes its service as helping people buy and sell cars with confidence. Its company page lists inspected used-car vehicles, test drives at home or at a Car Hub, a five-day money-back guarantee, and a one-year comprehensive service warranty subject to terms. These are company-stated features, and offer terms can change. Spinny’s company page has the current description and terms.

In a 2021 company announcement, Spinny called its approach “full stack” and listed features including interactive inventory viewing through Spinny360, an assured buyback program, online booking, doorstep test drives, and delivery. General Catalyst investor Adam Valkin said in that announcement, “The used car market in India is huge and ripe for reinvention.” That is an investor’s opinion, not an independently sourced market-size assessment. Spinny’s 2021 announcement describes the initiatives and quote.

Does the $1.75 billion figure reflect Spinny’s value today?

No. The more-than-$1.75-billion figure refers to a November 2021 report about a specific funding round. Later financing coverage reported different transactions and valuations, also relying in part on unnamed sources.

In December 2025, TechCrunch reported that Spinny was raising around $160 million in a Series G transaction connected to a planned GoMechanic acquisition. It cited three people familiar with the matter and reported an expected post-money valuation of about $1.8 billion; the company declined to comment. TechCrunch’s December 2025 report described reported terms, not a publicly audited valuation.

An Economic Times article dated February 14, 2026, reproduced in an exchange filing, reported a $160–170 million round led by Fidelity and Accel Leaders Fund, including $90 million in primary capital and secondary sales, at a blended valuation of $1.4–1.5 billion attributed to unnamed sources. The Economic Times account may not describe terms directly comparable with the December 2025 report. These later accounts do not establish one definitive current valuation.
