If there is no relevant disruption, update the app and your phone or tablet, then work out whether the issue is a crash, sign-in failure, activation problem, or identity check. This guidance is for ING Netherlands; requirements and support details may differ in other countries.
1. Check whether ING has a service disruption
Check ING’s service-availability page before changing settings or reinstalling the app. It is a live check: do not assume there is an outage unless ING’s page currently reports one. If it does show a disruption, wait for ING to resolve it and try again later.
2. Update the ING App and your device
If ING does not report a relevant disruption, make sure you have the latest version of the ING App and that your phone or tablet’s operating system is up to date. ING’s app listing recommends the latest app version, and the bank provides separate guidance for updating the app and updating smartphone or tablet software. Follow the current instructions for your device; no specific minimum operating-system version is established here.
3. Match the fix to what is failing
A crash or app that will not open is a different problem from an unsuccessful login or activation. ING has separate help for problems with the ING App, signing in to Mijn ING, and downloading and activating the app. Use the section that matches the symptom rather than treating every failure as a device fault.

The app crashes or will not open
Start with the service check and software updates above, then consult ING’s app-troubleshooting page. If the app still will not open, contact ING rather than relying on an unverified repair step.
You cannot sign in
If the app opens but you cannot access your account, use ING’s Mijn ING sign-in help. An app update or reinstall does not necessarily resolve an account-access issue.

You cannot activate the app
ING says activation requires an ING current account, a Mijn ING account, and valid identity documentation. Examples listed by ING include a passport, EU identity card, Dutch residence permit, Foreign Nationals ID, or Dutch driving licence. Check ING’s current activation guidance for accepted documents and the required process.
An identity-verification prompt does not arrive
ING Bank N.V. advised in a Google Play response dated September 6, 2023 that a notification after scanning or uploading identity documents could take up to 30 minutes, and suggested trying later or using another ID with NFC if the problem persisted. This is dated guidance, not a current guaranteed wait time. If verification remains stuck, follow ING’s current activation help or contact the bank.

4. Contact ING if the problem persists
The ING Netherlands Google Play listing currently names +31 20 228 8888 and [email protected] for app support. Contact options and opening hours can change, so check ING’s official contact page for the current route before reaching out. Describe what happens, when it started, your device type, and whether the failure occurs while opening, signing in, activating, or verifying your identity.
