The India Post GDS application correction window covered by the May 2023 Special Schedule is closed. Eligible candidates in Meghalaya, Sikkim, Tripura and Manipur could edit their successfully submitted applications only through June 26, 2023; the old correction link is not an active opportunity.
Was the India Post GDS correction window open?
No. The notice published by Scroll on June 24, 2023, said the correction window would remain open until June 26, 2023. India Post’s legacy portal labels the relevant instructions as applying to the May-2023 Special Schedule. The deadline has passed, so candidates cannot use that window now. Scroll’s June 24, 2023 notice and the legacy GDS portal relate to that historical cycle, not a current application correction.
Who was covered, and how many posts were reported?
The notice applied to candidates in Meghalaya, Sikkim, Tripura and Manipur. Scroll reported that the drive aimed to fill 4,384 Branch Postmaster and Assistant Branch Postmaster posts in Branch Post Offices across the four North East circles. This is the count reported by Scroll, not an independently verified vacancy-table total.
- Reported vacancy count: 4,384 posts — Scroll Staff, 2023.
- Roles named in the report: Branch Postmaster (BPM), Assistant Branch Postmaster (ABPM) and Dak Sevak.
What could applicants change?
Under the official portal instructions for the May 2023 Special Schedule, only successfully submitted applications could be edited. The portal excluded the applicant’s name, mobile number and email address from editable fields. The instructions also warned that selecting Edit disqualified the previous application; the candidate then had to complete and submit the edited application.

#1 Best Overall
- An incomplete or partially resubmitted edited form was treated as not submitted.
- An application could be edited only once; an edited application could not be edited again.
- Candidates who did not need to make a correction were told not to select Edit and to check their application status instead.
The legacy portal displayed this warning: “Candidates who doesnot require an Edit are strictly advised not click on Edit option.Instead they can view their application data in application Staus.” The text is reproduced as displayed, including its spelling and punctuation errors.
What were the reported steps to edit an application?
At the time, Scroll described the process as follows. These are historical steps, not a route that remains available for the expired 2023 window.
Rank #2
- Visit the India Post GDS online portal.
- Choose Edit Application.
- Log in to the application.
- Make the permitted corrections.
- Preview the edited application carefully, then submit it.
- Print a copy of the submitted application for your records.
The official portal likewise advised applicants to review the preview before final submission. Its one-edit limit and treatment of an incomplete resubmission made that review important.

The May 2023 deadline cannot be used for a later recruitment schedule. As of October 8, 2026, the official India Post GDS engagement page showed the July 2026 Schedule-II correction window as closed; it ended September 24, 2026, at 17:00. The page also said registration numbers from previous schedules were not valid for that cycle. Check the official India Post GDS engagement page for the applicable schedule and current notices rather than relying on the 2023 report.
