Is the India Post GDS third merit list released?
Third-list coverage appeared in May 2026, but that does not establish that every circle published its third list on the same day. Whether a specific candidate’s third list is available depends on the recruitment schedule and postal circle. What a GDS merit-list entry means
A name on a shortlist is conditional, not a final appointment. The January 2026 notification describes document verification and pre-engagement formalities, and candidates in supplementary lists undergo the same verification process. The notification set 30 June 2026 as the process-closure date, while reserving the Department’s discretion to modify or extend activity dates. How merit and post preferences work
The January 2026 notification says the merit list is system-generated from Class 10 secondary-school marks, or from the prescribed conversion of grades or points to marks. The official FAQ describes selection as merit-cum-post-preference allocation from division merit lists, with category reservation. Candidates are considered for posts they preferred. This is a merit-based shortlisting process, not an exam result.
