Is AFCAT 01/2024 registration open?
No. The AFCAT 01/2024 notification gives a closing time of 30 December 2023 at 11:00 p.m. Its date range is also reproduced in a PDF copy of the cycle notification hosted by a third party, rather than on an IAF domain. The official IAF AFCAT page currently displays a generic banner for 30 May–28 June 2024, which does not match the 01/2024 notice. That banner is not evidence that AFCAT 01/2024 remains open.
Where to check for a current AFCAT cycle
Use the Indian Air Force website and its current news and notification pages to find the latest cycle notice. The site’s later-cycle content includes AFCAT 02/2026 registration dates of 20 May to 19 June 2026, but those dates are not a current application window as of 8 October 2026. Confirm the dates and application link in the live notification before acting; do not rely on a banner or an older cycle’s instructions.
What AFCAT entry involves
AFCAT is an Indian Air Force officer-entry examination. Branch, age, and academic eligibility depend on the entry route, so applicants should check the relevant cycle notification and the IAF’s AFCAT entry guidance rather than assume one set of requirements applies to everyone.

Branch and age requirements vary
The IAF’s overview lists Flying branch age as 20–24 at the commencement of training, with an additional two-year relaxation for holders of a Commercial Pilot Licence. It lists Ground Duty age as 20–26. Academic qualifications also differ by branch; confirm all conditions in the applicable notification.
Application is only one stage of selection
The IAF describes selection as involving AFCAT and subsequent Air Force Selection Board assessment. Candidates recommended by AFSB are called for medical examination, and final selection also depends on placement in the all-India merit list. Submitting an application or passing the examination alone does not guarantee selection.

How the online application generally works
The IAF’s general Register for Exam guide, last updated 26 July 2022, describes these steps. Follow the live cycle notification for current requirements and instructions.
- Sign in to an existing account or register for one.
- Enter personal and qualification details, then select the entry and preferences available for that cycle.
- Upload the required photograph, signature, and thumb impression.
- Choose an examination state and city.
- Review the entered information, pay the applicable fee, and check for application confirmation.
These steps apply only when registration for a cycle is open. The general guide does not establish current-cycle dates, fees, vacancies, or instructions.
