Registration ran from 11:00 on 17 January to 23:00 on 6 February 2024, and online examinations began on 17 March 2024. The notice directed applicants to the official Agnipath Vayu portal; check it for any later intake rather than trying to apply under the 2024 notice.
What the 2024 announcement covered
The Indian Air Force (IAF) issued the notice for Agniveervayu Intake 01/2025 in 2024. It set out a recruitment process for unmarried Indian male and female candidates, with an online test followed by further selection stages. Its dates, eligibility rules, fee and service terms applied to that intake; they should not be assumed to be the terms of a later recruitment cycle.
The IAF said only applications registered online would be accepted. The notice also warned that the application window would not be extended. Its listed registration and examination fee was Rs. 550 plus GST for Intake 01/2025.

Age and marital status
The permitted date-of-birth range was 2 January 2004 through 2 July 2007, inclusive. The upper age limit at enrolment was 21. The notice invited unmarried Indian male and female candidates and set conditions relating to marriage during the four-year engagement. Applicants needed to consult the full notice for those conditions; the wording should not be presumed to carry over unchanged to later intakes.

Education routes
The notice offered Science and Other than Science routes. The thresholds below describe the qualifications listed for Intake 01/2025; the full notice governs detailed equivalency and subject requirements.

Eligible Science candidates could opt to take both examinations in one sitting. Because qualification details and accepted equivalents matter, candidates should check the full IAF Intake 01/2025 notification against their credentials.

Online test and later selection stages

For Phase I, the notice awarded one mark for a correct answer, no marks for an unattempted question and deducted 0.25 mark for a wrong answer. The online examination began on 17 March 2024 onwards.
What followed Phase I
Candidates shortlisted after Phase I were to proceed to Phase II, which included physical fitness and adaptability tests. Candidates who qualified at the required stages were then subject to a medical examination. Document and reporting requirements are set out in the full notice.
Engagement, pay and post-service terms
The notice described a four-year engagement and a first-year monthly package of Rs. 30,000. That figure is the package stated in the 2024 notice, not a representation of in-hand pay; the notice’s compensation table also addressed later-year packages and corpus contributions. It separately stated non-contributory life-insurance cover of Rs. 48 lakh during the engagement period.
After four years, the IAF was not obliged to retain an Agniveervayu. The notice said up to 25% of each specific batch could be considered for enrolment in the regular cadre, depending on organisational requirements, policy and objective selection criteria. That possibility was neither guaranteed continuation nor an individual entitlement.
Use official channels and avoid recruitment scams
The IAF notice stated: “SELECTION IN THE INDIAN AIR FORCE IS ‘FAIR & TRANSPARENT’ AND ON MERIT ONLY. AT NO STAGE ANY BRIBE IS REQUIRED TO BE PAID TO ANYONE FOR SELECTION OR RECRUITMENT IN THE INDIAN AIR FORCE.” Do not pay an intermediary claiming they can secure selection.
