The CAT 2023 result was declared on 21 December 2023 by the CAT Centre at IIM Lucknow. At the time, candidates were told to log in to the CAT 2023 website at iimcat.ac.in to download their scorecards. That was the original download route—not confirmation that the old portal or scorecards are still available today.
When was the CAT 2023 result declared?
The CAT Centre at IIM Lucknow announced the result on 21 December 2023. The CAT 2023 advertisement had tentatively scheduled the result for the second week of January 2024, but the actual declaration came earlier. The exam itself took place on 26 November 2023.
The official announcement said, “CAT 2023 results have been declared on Thursday, December 21, 2023.” CAT Centre, IIM Lucknow media release, 21 December 2023. The January date was only a forecast in the CAT 2023 advertisement.
How candidates were told to download the CAT 2023 scorecard
When the result was released, candidates could download the official scorecard by logging in to the CAT 2023 website. The CAT Centre’s announcement stated: “Candidates can now download their official CAT 2023 scorecards by logging into the CAT 2023 website (www.iimcat.ac.in).” This records the instruction given in December 2023; it is not a current, candidate-specific login link.

Can you still download a CAT 2023 scorecard?
Do not assume that the 2023 scorecard remains downloadable. Text reproduced from a CAT 2023 scorecard in an institutional record states that the scorecard was available to download until 31 December 2024 and that the score was valid only until that date (Shri Venkateshwara College record). This historical deadline does not establish whether an individual account is accessible now or whether a replacement can be issued in 2026.
If you need an old result, contact CAT or the relevant IIM through its current official channels and ask whether any retrieval or reissue option exists. The published announcement and reproduced scorecard text do not confirm that such a service is available.
What the CAT 2023 scorecard reports
CAT 2023 was conducted in three sessions. Its scoring process used normalization to adjust for differences among test forms and sessions. The score report included scaled scores for the three sections—Verbal Ability and Reading Comprehension (VARC), Data Interpretation and Logical Reasoning (DILR), and Quantitative Ability (QA)—as well as a total scaled score. These scaled scores were converted into percentiles for shortlisting. See the official CAT 2023 scoring and equating process.
A percentile is a score-reporting measure used in shortlisting; it is not an admission offer or a guarantee of selection. The official result release reported 14 candidates at the 100 percentile and 29 at the 99.99 percentile, according to the CAT Centre at IIM Lucknow in 2023. Those counts describe the result cohort, not admission outcomes.

What happens after the CAT result?
CAT results and IIM shortlisting are separate stages. Each IIM sets its own shortlist criteria and selection process; there is no single cutoff or process established by the result announcement. Depending on the institute, subsequent stages may include a Written Ability Test (WAT), Group Discussion (GD), and Personal Interview (PI). Academic record, work experience, and other factors may also be considered.
Shortlisted candidates receive interview letters directly from the respective IIM. Check the admissions policy published by each institute you are considering rather than relying on a universal cutoff or assuming that a particular percentile secures admission.
