To open a UPaisa wallet, use a valid CNIC and an active mobile connection registered in your name. UPaisa lists three options: dial *786# from a Ufone number, register through the UPaisa app, or visit a UPaisa retailer. The wallet FAQ says opening is free; transaction charges and account limits depend on the service and wallet level.
What you need before registering
- A valid CNIC. UPaisa’s terms also list a valid NICOP as acceptable identification.
- An active mobile connection registered in your name. UPaisa says the wallet must be created using the CNIC of the SIM owner, so do not register a wallet on your number using somebody else’s CNIC.
- Access to SMS on that SIM if you register in the app, so you can receive an OTP.
UPaisa says one wallet can be opened per CNIC. If you already have a wallet or registration fails because your CNIC is associated with one, contact UPaisa support to verify the account details. Its terms say U Microfinance Bank may request additional information or reject an application.

UPaisa does not state different opening fees for these routes; its FAQ says opening a wallet is free. The published sources do not establish a guaranteed screen-by-screen sequence or OTP delivery time.
Open your wallet
Using a Ufone number
- Check that the Ufone SIM is active and registered in your name, and have your valid CNIC ready.
- Dial *786# from that Ufone number and follow the prompts shown on your phone.
- Use your own CNIC details for the wallet. If registration does not proceed or an existing wallet is reported, contact UPaisa to verify the record.
Using the UPaisa app
- Download the UPaisa app and begin wallet registration.
- Keep the registered SIM active and available to receive the OTP by SMS. If needed, use the app’s resend option to request another OTP.
- Complete the steps presented in the app. UPaisa’s FAQ says wallet login uses your phone number and MPIN; it does not publish a universal registration screen sequence.
Registering in person
- Contact UPaisa to confirm the nearest eligible retailer, U Bank branch, or designated Ufone agent center and whether it handles wallet registration.
- Take your valid CNIC or NICOP and use the mobile connection registered in your own name.
- Follow the location’s registration process and ask for help if your CNIC is already linked to a wallet.
Opening cost, limits and charges
UPaisa’s FAQ says wallet opening is free. That does not mean every transaction is free: the same FAQ describes cash deposits and wallet-to-wallet transfers as free and cash withdrawals as slab-based. Charges can change, so check the current official schedule or fee calculator before making a paid transfer or withdrawal.

Published limits vary by level and are not presented identically on UPaisa’s FAQ and terms. The figures below are those stated on the respective official pages, accessed in 2026; confirm the limit that applies to your wallet and the current schedule with UPaisa.

UPaisa’s FAQ says Level 0 customers can visit a BVS-enabled UPaisa agent to request an upgrade to Level 1. The terms provide additional debit, credit, and balance ceilings, so check which limit type applies to the transaction you plan to make.

For context, the first-quarter 2026 schedule lists wallet-to-wallet transfers up to Rs. 50,000 as free; that dated schedule is not a guarantee of current charges. The fee notice for revised wallet-to-CNIC charges says they took effect on 1 October but does not identify the year, so check the live official fee information rather than relying on an exact CNIC-transfer price from that notice.
Where to get help
If your CNIC is already linked to a wallet, you cannot receive an OTP, or the registration route does not work, use UPaisa’s official support contacts. Its FAQ lists 7777 and 051-111-282-265; the contact page lists 042-111-786-365 for other mobile operators. Check the UPaisa Contact Us page for current contact details.

After opening
UPaisa’s FAQ describes wallet access as protected by a four-digit MPIN. Keep it private. Before sending money, withdrawing cash, or requesting a wallet-level upgrade, verify the applicable limits and charges through UPaisa’s current official information.
