Eligible U.S. Amazon Prime customers do not need to file a claim: payments are being sent automatically by mailed check, PayPal, or Venmo. To qualify, you must meet the settlement’s customer, enrollment-or-cancellation, date, and Prime-benefit-use requirements. The FTC says payments should arrive by April 2027, with a maximum total of $200—not a guaranteed amount for every recipient.
Who is eligible for an Amazon Prime settlement refund?
The FTC’s current guidance says you must meet all three of these requirements:
- You were a U.S. Amazon Prime customer.
- Between June 23, 2019, and June 23, 2025, you either signed up through one of the enrollment flows challenged by the FTC or tried to cancel using Amazon’s online cancellation flow but could not complete the cancellation.
- After enrolling, you used no more than 20 Prime benefits in any 12-month period.
The enrollment flows identified by the FTC were the universal Prime decision page, shipping selection page, single-page checkout, and Prime Video enrollment flow. The criteria and current payment guidance are listed on the FTC’s Amazon Refunds page.
Do you need to submit a claim or paperwork?
No. Under the revised process, eligible customers do not need to apply, respond to a notice, or complete a form to receive payment. Amazon sends payments automatically. Do not pay anyone to file a claim or release a refund.

How much could you receive?
The maximum total payment is $200, but that is a ceiling, not a promised payment amount. Some customers received an earlier payment of up to $51; eligible customers may receive an additional payment of up to $149, bringing their total to as much as $200. The FTC says more than $845 million in refunds had been issued as of September 2026. See the FTC’s September 17, 2026 update for the revised distribution information.
When and how will payments arrive?
The FTC says payments should arrive by April 2027. Payments are made by mailed check, PayPal, or Venmo. The FTC-hosted court order says additional automatic payments for customers who used 11–20 Prime benefits began October 1, 2026. It sets March 5, 2027, as the acceptance deadline for those escalation-eligible payments and describes later reconciliation and possible supplemental payments. The FTC’s consumer-facing page says payments expire 60 days after issue. If you receive a payment notice, follow its specific instructions and expiration date.

How to tell whether a refund message is legitimate
The FTC says it is not contacting people about Amazon refunds. A genuine refund does not require a fee. Be cautious of anyone claiming to be an official, promising special access, guaranteeing a payment, or asking you to send money or sensitive information.

- Do not share sensitive information in response to an unsolicited message claiming to secure your payment.
- Verify payment information and the settlement website address using the FTC’s official Amazon Refunds page.
FTC consumer guidance from January 2026 says Amazon, rather than the FTC, manages the process and lists administrator support at [email protected]. Use the official FTC page to verify current contact details before responding to a message.

The settlement totals $2.5 billion: up to $1.5 billion for consumer refunds and a separate $1 billion civil penalty. It resolved FTC allegations that Amazon used deceptive Prime enrollment and cancellation practices. Earlier FTC information from November 2025 described a narrower first phase, including a fewer-than-three-benefits threshold and payments of up to $51. The revised 2026 guidance broadened the eligibility threshold to no more than 20 benefits in any 12-month period and raised the maximum total to $200. If older articles or messages give a different threshold, use the current FTC refund page and the instructions on your own payment notice.
