IRCTC’s official pages reviewed do not document a general self-service option for permanently deleting an ordinary user account. To request closure or deactivation, contact IRCTC through its eQuery portal or customer care, and ask what can be done for your account. Before you do, check for active tickets, unresolved refunds or TDR claims, and any separate eWallet balance.
How to request closure or deactivation
IRCTC’s registration terms discuss deactivation in certain circumstances, including multiple user IDs or profile and terms issues. Those terms describe IRCTC’s authority to act on accounts; they do not document a customer-facing delete button or promise that account records will be erased. The current terms are available on IRCTC’s User Registration Terms and Conditions page.
- Check your account, if you can sign in. Review your booked tickets and any open cancellation, refund, or TDR matters before requesting closure.
- Contact IRCTC support. Submit a query through the official eQuery portal. IRCTC also lists customer-care numbers on its Contact Us page: 14646 from within India, or +91-8044647999 and +91-8035734999 for callers outside India.
- Ask for a specific outcome. Ask whether IRCTC can close or deactivate your user ID, whether open transactions must be resolved first, what will happen to your registered email and mobile number, whether those identifiers can later be reused, and how IRCTC will confirm any action.
- Keep the record. Save your query reference and IRCTC’s reply. If you cannot access the account, explain that to support; the official pages reviewed do not establish that an inaccessible account can be deleted through a website setting.
The contact channels provide a way to ask IRCTC for help; they do not guarantee that a particular closure request will be approved or handled in a particular way.
Resolve tickets, cancellations, and claims first
Keep access to the account while you address travel that has not happened yet or a pending cancellation, refund, or TDR. IRCTC’s eTicket FAQ directs users to My Account → My Transactions → Booked Ticket History to select e-tickets for cancellation. Online cancellation is generally available up to chart preparation; after that, the usual online cancellation route is unavailable, though eligible cases may use an online TDR process. Refund eligibility and processing depend on applicable railway rules. IRCTC says a refund is credited to the account used for booking after the concerned railway processes the claim. Check the status of open matters and retain access until you have taken the necessary steps and can track them.
Check eWallet separately
An IRCTC eWallet is a separate service with its own terms and conditions. Check whether you have one and whether it holds a balance, then ask IRCTC what would happen to it if your user ID is closed or deactivated.

An IRCTC-hosted eWallet deactivation form covers a specific agent-registration context involving removal of PAN/Aadhaar association and eWallet deactivation. It says the outstanding wallet balance will not be refunded under that request. That language applies to the scope of that form; it does not establish what happens to an ordinary account holder’s eWallet during a general account-closure request.

The official material reviewed does not establish whether closing or deactivating an account releases its registered email address, mobile number, or other linked identifiers for reuse. Ask IRCTC directly before relying on being able to register them again. The sources also do not establish that a closure request permanently erases account records, so do not treat deactivation as confirmation of data deletion.
