The update changes contact information in the PAN database; it is not a change to the physical card. The free e-KYC route requires PAN–Aadhaar linkage and access to an OTP sent to contact details registered with Aadhaar.
Use Protean’s Aadhaar e-KYC update facility
Protean lists an Aadhaar-based facility for updating a mobile number and email ID in PAN records. Start at Protean’s PAN update service and follow the options currently shown there. Confirm that you are on the official Protean domain before entering personal information.
- Open the official Protean PAN update facility and select the Aadhaar-based PAN update or e-KYC option shown on the page.
- Have your PAN and Aadhaar details ready. Protean requires PAN to be linked with Aadhaar for this route.
- Complete the portal’s identity-verification steps. The OTP is sent to a mobile number or email registered with Aadhaar; follow the live page to provide or confirm the contact details for the PAN update.
- Save the acknowledgment or confirmation shown after submission. If the request does not progress, use the provider’s status or support options.
Protean lists this Aadhaar-based update as free. Portal screens and availability can change, so rely on the live service page for the current steps.
What if you cannot receive the Aadhaar OTP?
The free e-KYC route depends on access to contact information registered with Aadhaar. If you have lost access to those details, you may not be able to authenticate using a new, unregistered number in this flow. The official information reviewed does not establish one universal recovery method for every OTP problem.

In that case, check the current PAN change or correction instructions from an authorized provider. The Income Tax Department identifies Protean and UTIITSL as online PAN service channels, and Protean provides a PAN change or correction application. Use the current form and follow its instructions for the fields being changed and any supporting documents or submission steps.
Choose the right service for the change

Do not confuse a PAN mobile update with an address update or reprint
A mobile-number update changes contact information associated with the PAN database. UTIITSL’s Aadhaar-linked address facility takes the address from UIDAI records; it does not serve as a general form for entering a different PAN mobile number. A card reprint is for replacing the physical card with its existing details and does not, by itself, update PAN database information.

Check current forms, fees, and status instructions
The Income Tax Department’s PAN guidance reflects forms under the Income-tax Rules, 2026. Because form names and requirements can change, use the live government guidance and provider form rather than relying on an older downloaded form. The Aadhaar e-KYC route is listed by Protean as free; a separate correction application may have fees depending on the current application and mode. No single fee or processing time is established for every correction scenario, so check the provider’s current instructions before submitting.
