For Virgin Money UK customers, the right transfer route depends on where the money is going: use the app’s Payments menu or Internet Banking’s Move money option for your own accounts; use a payment to an existing or new payee to pay someone else; and check the account tariff and on-screen quote before sending an international payment. Limits, charges and availability vary by payment type and account.
Transfer money between your own Virgin Money accounts
In the Virgin Money Mobile Banking app, tap Payments, then Make a payment. Choose the account to send from, select My accounts, and choose the destination account. In Internet Banking, sign in, select Move money, choose the source and destination accounts, then follow the on-screen instructions. Virgin Money says its usual payment limits do not apply to transfers between your own accounts. Virgin Money’s payment help has the current flow and account guidance.
Pay another person or a business in the UK
- In the app, tap Payments, then Make a Payment. In Internet Banking, select Move money.
- Choose the account to pay from, then select an existing payee or Pay someone new.
- For a new personal payee, enter their name, sort code and account number. For a business, use the app’s approved-list search where available.
- Check the payee and payment details carefully before confirming. Virgin Money allows customers to save new payee details for later.
Virgin Money advises: “Always be fraud aware and only send money to someone you trust.” Read its payment guidance and verify recipient details through a trusted channel, particularly if payment instructions have changed unexpectedly.
Understand payment limits and domestic options
Virgin Money’s app and Internet Banking payments without additional authentication are usually limited to £500 per payment and £1,000 per day. With authentication, the usual limit rises to £30,000. These are published usual limits, not guaranteed allowances for every account or transaction: payment type and risk checks can affect what is permitted. The limits exclude transfers between your own accounts and some Direct Debits, standing orders and payments to approved organisations. Check the amount shown when you arrange the payment.

These are Virgin Money’s general payment-comparison figures; your account terms and available payment options take precedence. The bank’s payment comparison lists method-specific limits, times and charges. For UK Faster Payments, the current-account tariff lists no fee; it lists £25 for CHAPS. Check the current-account fees before choosing a paid method.
Send money abroad
Virgin Money lists international payments by SWIFT and SEPA. Its payment comparison says SWIFT is generally same-day with a £25 fee, and SEPA is generally next-day. However, the separate current-account fee page lists a £20 SEPA fee, while the comparison page says SEPA is free. Because Virgin Money’s own pages differ, do not assume one universal SEPA price: check the tariff for your specific account and the charge displayed before authorising payment.

Timing and fees do not establish how much the recipient will ultimately receive. Destination eligibility, exchange-rate treatment and recipient or intermediary bank charges may affect the final amount. Review the live quote and account tariff before sending; Virgin Money’s payment information and current-account fee page provide its published terms.
Receive an international payment
Give the sender your full name and address, sort code and account number, IBAN and BIC/SWIFT code. Virgin Money also asks the sender to provide their full name and address and a clear reason for the payment. Missing or incorrect details can cause rejection. The bank warns that charges or exchange-rate movements may mean the sender does not get the full amount back if a payment is rejected. Use the bank’s international payment instructions to confirm the details required for your account.

Check savings-account withdrawal conditions
A Virgin Money savings terms document says online customers can transfer money to a nominated account without a daily amount limit, and describes CHAPS as an option for a larger transfer or one that must be guaranteed to arrive the same day, for a fee. This is not a blanket rule for every savings product: withdrawal access and conditions depend on the named account. Check your current account terms before initiating a transfer. Virgin Money’s savings information directs customers to product details.
Do not confuse a credit-card money transfer with a bank transfer
A credit-card money transfer moves borrowed credit into a bank account; it is not simply moving funds you already hold in a current account. Virgin Money’s help article describes an offer allowing up to 95% of available credit to be transferred into a UK bank account in the cardholder’s own name, usually arriving the same day or the next day. That article does not establish that the offer is currently available to every cardholder. Check your card account for an active offer and read the displayed fee, interest rate and repayment terms before accepting. Virgin Money’s credit-card money-transfer guidance explains the facility.

- Your own Virgin Money account: use My accounts in the app or Move money in Internet Banking.
- Another UK person or business: set up or select a payee and check the recipient details. The applicable authentication and payment limits depend on the method.
- Overseas recipient: compare the route’s timing and fee, then check the live exchange-rate quote and any applicable recipient or intermediary charges.
- Large or time-critical payment: compare the available channel’s limit, arrival timing and fee, and confirm that the payment is eligible for your account before submitting it.
- Money from a credit card: treat it as borrowing under a separate offer, not as a standard transfer of your own account balance.
