Jamie Vardy was listed at £140,000 a week in FBref’s Leicester City wage table for the 2024–25 season, with the data credited to Capology. That is a third-party estimate, not a salary Leicester City confirmed. Vardy left the club when his contract expired at the end of June 2025, so the figure does not describe a current Leicester wage.
Was Jamie Vardy on £140,000 a week at Leicester?
FBref’s 2024–25 Leicester City wage table, which credits Capology for its wage data, lists Vardy at £140,000 per week and £7,280,000 per year. Those are estimates shown in the season table, not figures confirmed by Leicester City. The available information also does not establish whether the estimate includes bonuses.

Why “is Leicester’s highest earner” is now historical
Leicester announced on 7 June 2024 that Vardy had agreed to extend his contract through the end of the 2024–25 Premier League season. On 24 April 2025, the club announced he would leave after that season; on 27 May it confirmed he would depart following the contract’s expiry at the end of June. The wage-table label therefore applies to the 2024–25 season, not a current Leicester payroll.
The club said Vardy joined from Fleetwood Town in 2012 and spent 13 seasons at Leicester. In its season-end report, Leicester recorded that his final appearance was his 500th for the club and that the goal he scored in that match was his 200th. Vardy said of ending his Leicester chapter, “I think it’s time.”

What the wage figure does—and does not—show
- It shows: a third-party estimate for Vardy’s weekly and annualized Leicester wage in the 2024–25 season.
- It does not show: a club-confirmed salary, a current wage at another club, or whether bonuses are included.
Leicester’s chairman Aiyawatt Srivaddhanaprabha described Vardy as “unique” and “a special player and an even more special person” in the club’s departure announcement. That tribute and Vardy’s career totals provide context for his Leicester tenure, but they do not verify the wage estimate.
