If a Ryanair payment is not working, first identify whether it was declined, is still pending, or the website or app is failing. A bank decline needs a different response from a greyed-out Pay Now button. After any attempt, check your confirmation email and My Bookings before trying to pay again.
First, identify what went wrong
- Payment declined: The card or payment method was not approved. Follow the decline steps below.
- Payment pending: The payment is awaiting bank approval. Do not assume the booking is confirmed until Ryanair receives the full payment.
- Page error: The page will not load, is slow, or the Pay Now button is greyed out. Troubleshoot the browser, app, or connection rather than treating this as a confirmed card decline.
If your payment was declined
Check the payment details you entered and, if needed, return to enter them once more. Ryanair says that if the payment is declined again, the selected flights are automatically cancelled and you must start the booking again. Avoid making repeated rapid attempts.
If the second attempt is declined, contact your card issuer to ask whether it can identify an authorization issue with your account. Ryanair’s guidance does not identify the cause of an individual decline, so an issuer may be able to provide account-specific information. You can also choose another payment method that is available for your booking.
Ryanair lists Visa, Mastercard, American Express, Apple Pay, Google Pay, PayPal, Diners/Discover, UATP, Visa Debit, Visa Electron, Mastercard Debit, and Mastercard Prepaid. It also lists iDEAL for the Netherlands and Pay by Bank for the UK, Ireland, France, Germany, Italy, Belgium, and Spain. Availability depends on location and checkout; Apple Pay is currently available only through the Ryanair app. Check the live payment page for your country and booking. A cost-related payment fee may apply depending on the method and payment-service-provider location, and Ryanair says it displays any such fee in the total after card details are entered. If the payment is pending
Ryanair says card processing may take up to 24 hours while the payment waits for bank approval. This is a processing interval in Ryanair’s guidance, not a guarantee that every payment will complete within that time. The booking is not confirmed until Ryanair receives the full payment.
After processing succeeds, look for a confirmation email with the reservation number and itinerary, then check My Bookings. If the payment remains pending or there is no confirmation, avoid assuming you have a completed booking based only on the payment screen. Ryanair: Why is my payment for my booking pending?

If the Ryanair page or app shows an error
For a page that will not load, a slow response, or a disabled Pay Now button, Ryanair points to an outdated browser or accumulated cache and cookies as possible causes. Try these steps:
- Open the booking in the latest version of Chrome.
- Clear your browsing history and cookies, then try the booking in an incognito window.
- If you are using the Ryanair app, update it to the latest version.
- Check your internet connection. If the problem continues, try a different device or a more reliable connection.
These steps address page and connection problems; they do not resolve a bank authorization decline by themselves. Ryanair: I have received a payment error alert. How do I fix it?

If payment failed while changing a flight
Do not repeat the transaction until you have checked whether the change went through. Look for a new confirmation email and review the booking in My Bookings. If the change did not complete and a balance remains unpaid, Ryanair says the new flights may be cancelled and the original flights reinstated.
For a declined payment during a flight change, use Ryanair’s guidance for that situation: My payment was declined while making my flight change online. Was it completed? For an error alert during the change, see Ryanair’s flight-change error guidance.
