To set up a LinkedIn job alert, run a job search with the role and filters you want to track, then turn on Job alerts. On desktop, you can choose how often alerts arrive and whether they come by email, LinkedIn notification, or both. LinkedIn’s mobile instructions say new alerts default to daily delivery through both channels.

Set up a job alert from a search

A search alert follows the criteria in the job search you ran. Set the title, location, and any other filters first so the alert matches the openings you want to hear about.

On desktop

  1. On LinkedIn, search for a job using the title, location, or other criteria you want to follow.
  2. At the bottom of the search results page, switch the Job alerts toggle on. LinkedIn confirms: “Your job alert was created.”
  3. Select Manage alerts, choose a daily or weekly frequency and email, LinkedIn notifications, or both, then click Done.

These desktop controls are described in LinkedIn Help: Job alerts on LinkedIn.

In the mobile app

  1. Search for a job in the LinkedIn app.
  2. Switch the Job alerts toggle on.

LinkedIn says mobile alerts default to daily delivery by both email and LinkedIn notifications. Its current help instructions do not specify a separate post-creation sequence for changing mobile alert frequency, and controls may vary by app version.

Create an alert for one company

To follow a single employer rather than a set of search criteria, open the company’s LinkedIn Page and select its Jobs tab. On desktop, click Create job alert and complete the required fields. In the mobile app, use the Add icon next to the company-alert option and complete the required fields. LinkedIn’s company-alert instructions say these alerts are delivered through the Notifications tab. See LinkedIn Help: Create job alerts for a specific company.

Edit or delete an existing alert

On desktop

  1. Select Jobs, then Preferences, then Job alerts.
  2. In the alert pop-up, choose an alert to edit or delete. Click Done when finished.

On iOS or Android

  1. Go to Jobs > More > Job alerts.
  2. Tap the edit icon beside the alert, then choose Edit job alert or Delete job alert.

For the current management steps, see LinkedIn Help: Manage job alerts.

Understand alert delivery versus general notifications

Job-alert settings determine how often and through which channels job-alert messages are delivered. LinkedIn’s general notification settings control notification types across the account. You can turn a notification type on or off in notification settings; turning off a type stops new notifications of that type. Disabling mobile push in the app’s settings still leaves updates in LinkedIn’s Notifications tab. See LinkedIn Help: Manage your notification settings.

If LinkedIn will not create the alert

LinkedIn’s troubleshooting page lists these possible causes when alert creation fails:

  • Your email settings do not allow LinkedIn emails.
  • The alert text contains offensive words or phrases.
  • You have reached the maximum number of active email alerts.

These are possibilities, not a complete diagnosis. Review the alert text and email settings, and remove an alert you no longer need if your account may be at its limit. LinkedIn’s older guidance is at LinkedIn Help: Troubleshoot job alerts.

How many LinkedIn job alerts can you have?

LinkedIn Help states that a member can have up to 20 job alerts at once. The page showed “Last updated: 6 months ago” when accessed on October 8, 2026; LinkedIn does not give an exact publication date, and the limit can change. Check LinkedIn Help for the current limit if it affects your setup.
