Paying for renewal with wallet funds or a voucher

PlayStation Store wallet funds can be used toward a subscription renewal. You can add funds with a PlayStation Store gift card, but make sure the card or voucher matches your account’s region. If the wallet does not have enough for the renewal, Sony may charge the remaining amount to the default or approved payment method. A PlayStation Plus membership voucher is different from a wallet gift card: it provides the plan and term stated on the voucher. After that initial term, membership may continue at a different payment frequency. Is the 12-month plan cheaper?

Compared with paying the listed one-month price for 12 consecutive months, the US annual prices shown by Sony are lower for all three tiers. Sony’s page labels Essential as 39% off and Premium as 33% off versus 12 months of one-month plans; these are Sony’s displayed comparisons and may vary with its pricing or promotional presentation. The annual total is still a larger upfront payment, so whether it makes sense depends on your budget and how long you expect to keep the membership active.
