Nathan Tella’s exact weekly wage at Southampton when he moved to Bayer Leverkusen was not officially disclosed. Third-party figures differ and refer to earlier periods: Team Kenya reported £12,000 a week in 2021, while SalarySport estimated $25,650 a week for him at Southampton in 2022. Neither figure verifies his pay in August 2023.
What Southampton and Leverkusen disclosed
Southampton confirmed Tella’s transfer on 27 August 2023, saying it considered Bayer Leverkusen’s offer fair value for the 24-year-old. The club’s announcement did not disclose the transfer fee or Tella’s salary (Southampton’s announcement).

Leverkusen announced a contract running through 30 June 2028, but its signing announcement also omitted salary (Bayer Leverkusen’s announcement). That contract length does not establish what Tella had earned at Southampton.
What the reported wage figures mean
| Source and period | Published figure | What it can establish |
|---|---|---|
| Team Kenya, 2021 | £12,000 per week | An older news report about Tella’s Southampton wage; it does not verify his salary in August 2023 (Team Kenya). |
| SalarySport, 2022 Southampton entry | $25,650 per week | A third-party estimate for 2022, not club-confirmed payroll information and not proof of his wage at the time of the move (SalarySport). |
The figures use different currencies and concern different periods, so they should not be treated as direct confirmation of one current Southampton wage. SalarySport lists its 2023 estimate under Burnley, not Southampton.

Why the August 2023 figure remains unknown
Bundesliga’s transfer-day profile says Tella returned to Southampton after a loan at Burnley. It also reports that he opened the 2023/24 season with three Southampton league appearances, scoring once and assisting once (Bundesliga profile). That background does not supply a wage figure. Without a salary disclosure from either club, the older report and estimate cannot establish his exact weekly earnings when the transfer was completed.
