A New York trial court dismissed former assistant Leslie Kuhn’s lawsuit against Howard Stern, Beth Ostrosky Stern and two related companies on July 29, 2026. An October 6 report says Kuhn appealed; no appellate decision was reported there. The complaint’s descriptions of a hostile work environment and questionable business operations remain allegations, not findings that the events occurred.
What Kuhn alleged
In an April 5, 2026 complaint, Leslie Kuhn sued Howard A. Stern, Beth Ostrosky Stern, One Twelve, Inc., and The Howard Stern Production Company, Inc. She described working first in connection with The Howard Stern Show and later performing executive-assistant and household-management duties. Contemporary reporting said her work included staff schedules, payroll and household operations at the Sterns’ Southampton residence, as well as duties connected to Beth Stern’s cat fostering and rescue activity. Kuhn alleged that her termination followed a hostile work environment. Her complaint attributed “immense pressures on the household” to what it called “irresponsible and untenable animal rescue and fostering operations occurring on-site,” and also alleged “massively disorganized and questionable business operations and accounting practices.” Those are the plaintiff’s characterizations; the materials described here do not establish them as facts.
What the confidentiality dispute involved
Kuhn also asked the court for declarations concerning confidentiality agreements that she said she had not validly signed or that should not prevent her from speaking about her employment. The defendants sought dismissal and sanctions in an April 29, 2026 memorandum, disputing her claims and calling the suit a “thinly veiled attempted shakedown.” That was the defendants’ litigation position, not a judicial finding or a statement verified as coming directly from Howard or Beth Stern. Why the trial court dismissed the case
On July 29, 2026, New York Supreme Court Justice Melissa A. Crane dismissed the action. A September legal analysis of the ruling says the claims relating to a May 2022 confidentiality agreement were dismissed as moot after the defendants agreed not to enforce that agreement, leaving no justiciable controversy. The analysis also reports dismissal of Kuhn’s claims concerning a 2025 nondisclosure agreement. In the excerpt quoted there, the court said, “Accordingly, there is no justiciable controversy over the Confidentiality Agreement dated May 2022.” Decision analysis
The reported ruling addressed the claims before the court and the confidentiality dispute. It should not be read as a finding that the alleged workplace conduct did or did not happen.

An October 6, 2026 report says Kuhn appealed the July 29 dismissal and is seeking to revive her challenge to the agreements. The report gives no appellate outcome, so the appeal remains unresolved in the latest account cited here; it does not establish that the dismissal has been reversed or that the case has been reinstated. Law Commentary
The report does not provide a confirmed appellate docket number. Any later procedural development would need to be checked against a current court record.
