Etsy uses the highest One item rate in the order as the starting charge, then adds applicable Additional item rates. If you mean combining multiple orders a buyer has already placed, that is a separate fulfillment process involving one label, shared tracking, and a refund of extra shipping.
Set up fixed combined shipping for future orders
- On Etsy.com, go to Shop Manager → Settings → Shipping settings. Create a shipping profile or edit the profile you want to use. Etsy’s shipping profile instructions
- Choose fixed shipping prices. Enter the cost of shipping one item in One item, then enter the added cost for each extra item in Additional item. Etsy defines the latter as the cost of sending an item when it is added to another item in your shop; it can apply to another listing or another quantity of the same listing. - Set the Additional item amount to reflect the extra postage and packing cost you expect when products are shipped together. Etsy does not prescribe a particular amount; the rate should fit the items and parcels you sell.
- Save the profile. To assign it to listings, go to Shop Manager → Listings, select the listings, choose Editing options → Change shipping profiles, select the profile, and apply it. A listing can be connected to only one shipping profile at a time. Etsy’s shipping profile instructions
- Review the rates for listings that buyers may purchase together, and check a test basket before relying on the setup. Different One item and Additional item amounts affect the checkout calculation.
How Etsy calculates the fixed shipping charge
Etsy starts with the highest One item amount among the items in the order, then adds applicable Additional item amounts. For example, Etsy illustrates the rule with Item A at $2.00 One item and $0.50 Additional item, and Item B at $1.00 One item and $0.75 Additional item. An order with one of each has $2.75 shipping: $2.00 plus $0.75. An order with three Item A units has $3.00 shipping: $2.00 plus two $0.50 additions. The Additional item charge applies when a buyer purchases more than one of an item, or another item in your shop, where the relevant listing’s shipping price is less than or equal to the other item. Listings do not have to share one profile for this calculation, but each listing can use only one profile. Etsy’s combined-shipping explanation
If you use calculated shipping
Calculated shipping is different from fixed combined rates. Etsy uses the seller’s location, buyer’s location, and item size and weight to calculate postage. Etsy’s setup instructions describe availability for eligible sellers in the United States or Canada using supported carriers, including USPS, Global Postal Shipping, or Canada Post; eligibility and carrier support may change. You cannot enter the same discounted fixed-rate One item/Additional item combination for calculated shipping because Etsy calculates postage for multiple items. In an order mixing calculated and fixed listings, Etsy adds calculated postage as usual and then adds applicable Additional item amounts for the fixed-rate listings. For calculated rates, use accurate item weight and dimensions. Etsy instructs sellers to measure an item after preparing it for shipping but before boxing it. Combine separate orders after checkout
If a buyer has already placed multiple separate orders and you choose to send them in one parcel, handle them as separate orders in Etsy while using one physical shipment:
- Buy a shipping label for one of the orders and enter the combined parcel’s actual weight and length, width, and height.
- Complete that order and copy its tracking number.
- Enter the same tracking number on each other order going in the parcel, then complete those orders.
- Refund the extra shipping costs for the additional orders.

This workflow addresses orders that already exist; it does not set a reduced shipping charge for future multi-item checkouts. To change the checkout rate for future orders, use the fixed-rate profile settings above.
