You can move money from Cash App to your PayPal balance by using a linked bank account as a bridge: withdraw the Cash App balance to the bank, then add money to PayPal from that bank account. The transfers happen separately, so the full process can take several business days.
How to transfer money from Cash App to PayPal
This is the supported bank-mediated route described in the services’ US help guidance. You’ll need access to a bank account you control and, for PayPal, a linked and confirmed bank account. If you have not linked the bank to both services, complete the linking steps first.

- Link the bank account in Cash App. Open your profile, go to Linked bank accounts, and follow the prompts. Cash App says you may need to link a debit card first. See Cash App’s transfer guidance.
- Withdraw your Cash App balance. Open the Money tab, select Withdraw, enter the amount, and choose Standard or Instant. Review any fee shown in the app before confirming.
- Link and confirm the same bank in PayPal. PayPal may link a bank instantly, or ask you to verify it using two small deposits, which can arrive within three business days. Follow PayPal’s bank-linking steps.
- Add money to your PayPal balance. In PayPal, go to Wallet > Transfer Money > Add money from your bank or debit card, or use the app’s Add Money flow. Select the bank, enter the amount, review the displayed timing, and confirm. PayPal’s balance-addition guidance explains the available options.
How long does it take, and what does it cost?
The transfers are sequential: Cash App must send the money to your bank before you can add it to PayPal. Standard Cash App withdrawals are free and typically take 1–3 business days. Cash App Instant withdrawals typically arrive within minutes and carry a fee disclosed in the transfer flow. Its US terms list an instant-transfer fee range of 0.5%–2.5%, with a $0.25–$1 minimum and a $75 maximum; check the current quote in the app because fees can change. After the funds reach your bank, a PayPal bank addition usually takes up to five business days. PayPal says weekends and holidays do not count as business days. If PayPal offers an eligible debit-card addition for your account, it is typically available in seconds; limits and eligibility vary, so rely on the options and limits shown in your account. These are service estimates, not a guaranteed end-to-end arrival time: bank processing, verification, weekends, holidays, and account-specific availability can add time. Can you transfer directly with a Cash App Card?
The official guidance establishes Cash App withdrawals to linked accounts and PayPal balance additions from confirmed banks or eligible debit cards. It does not establish that a Cash App Card is a supported direct source for adding money to a PayPal balance. Don’t assume that linking the card will work as a shortcut; if PayPal presents it as an option in your account, check its eligibility, limits, timing, and fee before confirming.

Not necessarily. If your goal is simply to pay with PayPal at checkout, PayPal says you may be able to select a linked, confirmed bank account or card as the payment method. That avoids first moving money into the PayPal balance. This is different from transferring funds into the balance for later use. See PayPal’s bank-payment guidance.

Which route should you choose?
- For a PayPal balance top-up: Use the linked-bank route, then choose the Cash App withdrawal speed and PayPal funding option available to you.
- If speed matters: Compare the Instant withdrawal fee shown by Cash App with any eligible PayPal debit-card option. Availability is account-specific, and the sources do not establish one universally fastest route.
- If avoiding fees matters: Cash App’s Standard withdrawal is free; check the PayPal flow for any applicable terms before confirming.
- If you only need to pay at checkout: Check whether PayPal lets you select your linked, confirmed bank account or card directly instead of topping up your balance.
