You can make money on Facebook through Meta’s creator monetization features, fan payments, sponsorships, or sales for your own business. These routes are not interchangeable: some pay through Meta when eligible content performs, while others depend on customers, subscribers, or a brand paying you. Availability varies by account and can change, so start by checking your Professional Dashboard rather than relying on old follower or view thresholds.

How Facebook monetization works now

Meta’s Facebook Content Monetization program combines In-stream Ads, Ads on Reels, and the Performance Bonus into one performance-based program. Eligible Reels, longer videos, photos, and text posts may earn payouts based on performance; the format alone does not guarantee earnings. In March 2026, Meta said the program was invite-only. Check the Facebook mobile app’s Professional Dashboard for your account’s current status and any available invitation or interest form.

Meta reported that Facebook paid creators nearly $3 billion across its creator monetization programs in 2025, up 35% year over year; Reels accounted for 60% of those reported payouts. Meta also said the number of creators earning more than $10,000 annually grew by more than 30% year over year. These are platform-wide figures, not typical creator earnings or a forecast for an individual account. Meta previously reported that more than four million creators had earned money on Facebook cumulatively since 2017.

15 ways to earn through or with Facebook

The first five entries below are eligible formats within Content Monetization, not five separate payout programs. Other options include fan support and business strategies that use Facebook to reach customers; those do not necessarily pay through Meta.

1. Earn from eligible Facebook content

If your account has access to Facebook Content Monetization, eligible posts can generate performance-based payouts. Meta says it is placing greater emphasis on original content, deeper engagement, longer watch time, and qualified views. Check the dashboard for the program’s current terms and the metrics available to you.

2. Publish original Reels

Reels are a format within the unified program, not a separate current Ads on Reels sign-up route. Make Reels that add your own perspective or useful information rather than relying on reposted clips. Meta reported that Reels received 60% of Facebook’s creator payouts in 2025, but that platform-wide share does not predict an individual creator’s earnings.

3. Make longer videos

Eligible longer videos can also earn through Content Monetization. This route may suit creators who can sustain a subject over time and hold viewers’ attention; check the dashboard to see whether your videos and account qualify.

4. Monetize eligible photo posts

Meta includes eligible photos in Content Monetization. Photos may be a fit for creators whose original work is primarily visual, but a post must meet current program requirements and earn qualifying performance to generate a payout.

5. Monetize eligible text posts

Eligible text posts are also included in the unified program. This gives writers and community-focused creators a potential route without making video, though access and payout depend on the program’s current eligibility and performance rules.

6. Receive Stars from supporters

Stars let eligible fans support creators. This is a fan-payment route, distinct from performance-based Content Monetization. Check whether Stars are available to your account and audience, along with current terms, in Facebook’s monetization tools.

7. Offer fan subscriptions

Subscriptions can provide recurring support from followers in exchange for ongoing value. They may suit creators who can consistently offer subscriber-focused content or community access. Availability, terms, and features can vary, so verify the current offer in your account.

8. Charge for online events

Paid online events can turn a live class, workshop, or other event into a direct revenue opportunity. Consider this when you have a clear event topic and an audience likely to pay for attending. Facebook’s current event tools and availability should be checked in-product.

9. Secure sponsored collaborations

A brand can pay you to create sponsored content for an audience that matches its goals. This is a business arrangement with the sponsor, not a guaranteed Meta payout. Agree on the deliverables and payment directly, and follow Facebook’s current branded-content and disclosure requirements.

10. Work on partnership ads

Partnership ads let a brand use creator content in a campaign. This differs from a sponsored post aimed only at your own audience: it involves the brand’s advertising use of the content. Check current tools, permissions, and terms before agreeing to a campaign.

11. Check Creator Fast Track if you already have a large audience elsewhere

In March 2026, Meta described Creator Fast Track for established creators with audiences on Instagram, TikTok, or YouTube. Meta said qualifying participants could receive immediate access to Content Monetization and monthly guaranteed pay tiers tied to audience size. This is a selective program with specific qualifications, not a general earnings route. Confirm current eligibility and terms before treating it as an option.

12. Sell your own products

Use Facebook to introduce products from your own business, answer questions, and direct interested people to a checkout you control or another suitable sales channel. Revenue comes from customer purchases, not from Facebook paying for reach. Check current commerce rules and available tools before setting up a transaction through Facebook.

13. Find customers for services

Service providers can use a Facebook presence to explain what they do, show relevant work, and invite prospective customers to get in touch. The income comes from the service relationship. Be clear about the service, pricing, and next step, and use a safe, reliable process for enquiries and payment.

14. Sell courses or workshops

If you teach a defined skill, Facebook can help you reach potential learners and share useful material that demonstrates your expertise. The course or workshop sale—not a platform payout—is the revenue source. Make the offer, scope, and price clear before someone buys.

15. Send people to an owned business

A Facebook Page or profile can help people discover a newsletter, website, booking page, or other business you operate. This is customer acquisition rather than Facebook monetization: results depend on whether visitors take the next step and whether the business offer works for them.

How to check whether your account can monetize

  1. Open the Facebook mobile app and go to your Professional Dashboard.
  2. Select Monetization, then inspect the programs and eligibility information shown for your account.
  3. If Content Monetization appears, open it and follow the current instructions. Meta said in March 2026 that interested creators could complete an interest form there; access was invite-only at that time.
  4. Review the current terms for any other feature—such as Stars, subscriptions, events, or branded content—before building a plan around it.

There is no stable universal follower threshold established for the unified Content Monetization program in the available official announcements. Do not treat old minimums as current rules; your dashboard is the practical place to check account-specific access.

Choose a route that fits your content and business

Route Who pays What it asks of you Key uncertainty
Content Monetization formats Meta, through performance-based payouts Eligible original content in formats such as Reels, longer videos, photos, or text Account access, qualifying performance, and current program terms
Stars, subscriptions, paid events Fans or attendees A reason for supporters to pay, or an event worth attending Feature availability and current terms for your account and market
Sponsored collaborations or partnership ads A brand Campaign deliverables and an audience relevant to the brand Whether a suitable sponsor and current campaign tools are available
Products, services, courses, or owned business Your customers A clear offer, sales process, and follow-through Demand and the applicable commerce or checkout rules

Start with the format you can make consistently and the relationship you already have with your audience. A creator who can produce original video may investigate Content Monetization; one with a close community may consider fan support or events; a business owner may focus on finding customers. You can combine routes, but each has separate requirements and revenue depends on actual performance, purchases, or agreements.

Make original work and track what qualifies

Meta says it prioritizes original content in Feed and Reels and reduces reach for unoriginal material. Content filmed or produced directly by a creator or the owner of a Profile or Page is considered original under Meta’s March 2026 explanation. Third-party material may qualify when the creator adds genuinely new information, analysis, or substantial creative improvement. Simply reacting to, stitching, narrating, or lightly editing someone else’s content may be treated as unoriginal; persistent unoriginal posting can lead to reduced recommendations or demonetization.

Where available, use the dashboard’s Qualified View, Earnings Rate, and Non-Qualified Views metrics to understand performance. Meta describes Earnings Rate as approximate earnings per 1,000 qualified views; Non-Qualified Views can help explain why some views do not count. Views alone therefore do not tell you what a post will earn.

A practical first-month approach

  1. Decide whether you are building as a Page or professional profile creator, and choose one or two formats you can produce reliably.
  2. Check Professional Dashboard → Monetization for current eligibility and offers; record what is actually available to your account.
  3. Publish original work with a clear audience benefit, rather than repackaging other creators’ material.
  4. Choose one revenue route to test alongside content: a platform payout feature, fan support, a paid event, a sponsor offer, or an owned-business offer.
  5. Review qualified-view and earnings metrics where available, and assess business routes by enquiries, registrations, or sales. Do not infer likely income from Meta’s aggregate payout reports.

Product prices and availability are accurate as of the date/time indicated and are subject to change. Any price and availability information displayed on Amazon at the time of purchase will apply.
