The Masked Singer contestants are paid, but the show has not disclosed how much. Judges’ salaries are also unconfirmed; media estimates put some panelists’ pay in the millions per season, but those figures are not verified contracts. The available evidence supports a qualitative comparison—not an exact pay gap or ratio.

Are contestants on The Masked Singer paid?

Yes. In an October 2023 interview with CinemaBlend, showrunner James Breen said contestants receive compensation, noting that many are SAG-AFTRA members. He added that they are not paid at a level where people would do the show for the money.

Breen did not disclose a fee, stipend, per-episode rate, or other contract terms. No reliable public source establishes a dollar amount for contestants, and individual deals may differ. Claims elsewhere about signing bonuses or payments for advancing are secondhand and do not establish what contestants actually receive.

How much do the judges reportedly make?

The judges’ exact salaries have not been publicly confirmed. Media reports offer estimates, which should not be treated as verified pay:

Reported figure What it refers to Source and qualification
$1.25 million–$2.5 million per season Judges’ pay estimate TV Insider (2026) reports this range while stating exact salaries are unknown.
$1.25 million–$2.5 million per season Ken Jeong, Jenny McCarthy Wahlberg, and Robin Thicke AS USA (2024) presents this as an estimate, not a confirmed salary.
About $1 million per season Rita Ora AS USA (2024) reports this as an estimate, not a confirmed salary.

A separate secondary report relays an estimate of about $100,000 per episode for Robin Thicke. That figure is not independently confirmed and uses a different pay unit; without verified episode counts and contract terms, it cannot be reconciled reliably with per-season estimates.

What the comparison does—and doesn’t—show

The evidence suggests judges are reported to earn substantially more than contestants, but it does not establish how much more. Contestant compensation is acknowledged by the showrunner but unquantified; judge figures are media estimates rather than disclosures from the judges, Fox, or the production company. Comparing them as if both were confirmed salaries would overstate what is known.

Season and prize context

The panel has changed over time. Rita Ora replaced Nicole Scherzinger in Season 11; TV Insider’s Season 14-era panel is Ken Jeong, Jenny McCarthy, Robin Thicke, and Ora. Salary estimates tied to one lineup or season should not be assumed to apply unchanged to another.

The winner’s Golden Mask trophy is not a cash prize. TV Insider describes the winner as receiving the trophy, not a monetary award, so it should not be counted as contestant pay.
