A current, reconciled total of British Airways aircraft still pending delivery is not established by the latest detailed official figures available here. IAG’s 2025 annual report lists 217 future deliveries for the whole group, not BA alone. Separately, IAG named 44 aircraft in BA-specific order actions during 2025; that is not the airline’s full remaining backlog.
What the published figures do—and do not—show

These figures answer different questions. The 217 figure is a group backlog snapshot; the 44 figure is a count of BA aircraft in a particular year’s order actions; and the 13 figure is a one-year delivery count. They cannot be combined to calculate a current BA backlog.
What is included in IAG’s 217-aircraft group orderbook?
At 31 December 2025, IAG’s type-level table listed 68 A320neo-family aircraft, two A321XLRs, 21 A330-900s, 14 A350s, 50 Boeing 737s, 24 Boeing 777-9s and 38 Boeing 787-10s. IAG’s scheduled delivery ranges for this group-wide orderbook run from 2026 through 2033. The published figures do not allocate every commitment by type to British Airways, so those counts and schedules should not be attributed to BA.
Why 44 is not BA’s total pending-delivery count
IAG says the 44 newly ordered aircraft for BA are scheduled for delivery over 2028–2033. The figure is useful for understanding the 2025 order actions, but it does not show how many aircraft BA had already ordered and still awaits, or how many of those earlier commitments were fulfilled during 2025. Although BA received 13 new aircraft that year, the disclosed group delivery figures do not provide the airline-by-airline, type-by-type reconciliation needed to subtract deliveries from its earlier commitments.

Order status matters as well. IAG reports options separately from firm future deliveries. Options are not firm aircraft orders and should not be added to the 217 group figure or treated as BA deliveries pending.
What would establish a current BA-only total?
A reliable answer requires a dated BA aircraft-commitments table that identifies the airline allocation and distinguishes firm orders from options, together with any relevant changes since the prior disclosure. IAG’s investor page lists a British Airways interim report for the six months to June 2026, but the available report content did not expose its aircraft table or a reconciliation of BA’s earlier orders. IAG has described its 2025 orders as supporting both fleet replacement and growth, alongside investment intended to improve efficiency, emissions performance and onboard products. Those are the group’s stated objectives, not proof of aircraft-level results.
