Luke Littler’s £500,000 was the gross winner’s prize for the 2025 PDC World Darts Championship. The exact amount he kept after tax is not publicly verified by the sources cited here, so it would be misleading to give a precise take-home figure. The distinction matters: the PDC later announced a £1 million winner’s prize for the 2025/26 championship.
Which World Championship prize was £500,000?
The £500,000 refers to Littler’s 2025 World Championship victory, not the next edition’s award. RTÉ reported the prize increase in March 2025 and quoted Littler describing the previous winner’s prize: “It’s been £500,000 for the past however many years [since 2019], but I think that’s the next big step for us players,” RTÉ reported.
In November 2025, the Professional Darts Corporation announced a £5 million total prize fund for the 2025/26 World Championship, with £1 million for the winner. That later award should not be confused with the £500,000 Littler won in 2025. The PDC announcement gives the figures for that edition.
How much tax will Luke Littler pay on £500,000?
There is no verified public figure here for Littler’s tax bill or final net amount. A tournament prize announcement establishes the gross award, not how much the player ultimately retains. HMRC’s published rates cannot be applied to the prize alone to calculate an individual’s tax bill.

For context, HMRC lists a standard Personal Allowance of £12,570 for the 2025/26 tax year. The standard non-savings income-tax rates for England, Wales and Northern Ireland in that year were 20%, 40% and 45%; Scotland has different bands. HMRC’s rates and allowances page sets out the figures and jurisdictional distinctions.
Why the prize alone cannot reveal his take-home pay
A reliable personal calculation would need information not established by the prize announcement or the cited tax-rate guidance, including Littler’s total taxable income, applicable jurisdiction, allowances, expenses, and how the income is treated. The available sources also do not document whether tax was withheld from the prize at source or show a final tax return. Without those facts, neither a headline tax rate nor a simple subtraction from £500,000 proves what he kept.
