What the reported property figures mean
In 2019, Select Property and Vita Group reported a £600 million sale to DWS of eight Vita Student residences containing 3,198 apartments. That is the reported value of a corporate portfolio transaction. It does not establish how much Stott personally received, whether he owned the entire portfolio, or what profit was made.

In its 2024 20-year retrospective, Select Property reported more than 15,100 properties sold and £2.86 billion worth of property sales. It also reported £1.06 billion in Manchester property sales and £280 million paid to investors in rental revenue across the wider group. These are company-reported cumulative figures: property sales are not the same as profit, and rental revenue paid to investors is not a payment to Stott personally.
Vita Group says it grew from 20 people to more than 1,000 on its current people page, which provides no publication year for that claim. It is a company statement about the group’s growth, not a measure of Stott’s wealth.

What businesses does Mark Stott own?
The company sources describe a broader property platform that includes Vita Student, CitySuites, Affinity Living and Prestige Collection. Companies House records Stott as a majority shareholder in Vita Group Holdings, but that fact alone does not reveal the value of his stake, any liabilities attached to it, or his other private assets. The available evidence therefore supports describing him as a property entrepreneur with a substantial business platform, not assigning a personal fortune based on the group’s sales totals.

How Stockport County fits into the story
Stockport County identified Stott as the club’s new owner following its January 2020 takeover. Companies House records him as a director of Stockport County 2010 Limited from 31 January 2020. The reviewed club and company material does not state the takeover price or how much he personally invested, so the acquisition is evidence of his later ownership activity—not a disclosed measure of his wealth or its original source.
