How Much Did England’s Women Earn for Winning Euro 2025?

England’s Euro 2025 winnings involved UEFA association prize money and a separate reported FA bonus. The available figures do not reveal each player’s final payout.

England’s Euro 2025 win triggered two distinct potential payment streams: UEFA prize money paid to the national association, with a required share allocated to players, and a separate FA bonus package reported before the tournament. UEFA’s maximum prize money was €5.1 million only if England also won all three group matches. The Guardian reported an FA bonus pot of up to £1.7 million, averaging about £73,000 per player. Neither figure establishes what each player ultimately received.

What were the reported payouts?

England won UEFA Women’s EURO 2025, so the pre-tournament conditional scenario in the original question has happened. The figures available describe different things, however: UEFA’s rules set association-level prize distributions and a required player allocation, while the reported FA package was a separate player bonus.

Payment stream Reported amount or rule What it means
UEFA tournament distributions Up to €5.1 million for a team that won the tournament and all three group matches (UEFA, 16 December 2024) Maximum prize money for the national association under that performance scenario, not an individual player’s payout.
UEFA player allocation 30–40% of the association’s total UEFA distributions must go to players; UEFA recommended 35–40% for teams reaching the knockout stage (UEFA, 16 December 2024) A required percentage range, not a fixed amount per England player.
Reported FA win bonus Up to £1.7 million in total, with an average of about £73,000 per player (The Guardian, 28 May 2025) A separate bonus package reported before the tournament; individual amounts depended on appearances and minutes played.

Why €5.1 million was not the players’ payday

UEFA approved a €41 million prize-money pot for the 2025 tournament, a 156% increase on the 2022 figure. Each of the 16 participating teams received a fixed €1.8 million participation fee, with performance bonuses accounting for the remaining 30% of the allocated prize money. A winner could reach €5.1 million only by also winning every group-stage match.

That €5.1 million was a maximum available to the association, not money promised directly to each player and not a guaranteed amount simply for winning the final. UEFA’s rule says: “Each participating national association must allocate between 30% and 40% of the total distributions received to its players.” The players’ share therefore depends on the association’s total distributions and allocation within the stated range; it does not translate into a published fixed amount per player.

What the Guardian reported about the FA bonus

On 28 May 2025, The Guardian reported that the FA had agreed a bonus pot worth up to £1.7 million if England won Euro 2025. It described the average bonus on offer as about £73,000 per player and said individual payments depended on appearances and minutes played. England’s announced squad had 23 players, but the reported average is not evidence that every squad member was guaranteed the same sum. The FA declined to comment to The Guardian, so the package details should be understood as that newspaper’s reporting, not as an FA-published payment schedule.

What is known about each player’s final payment?

The tournament result is known: England won. The cited sources do not establish the exact amount ultimately paid to each player, or confirm the final administration of either stream. In particular, there is no basis here for adding the euro-denominated UEFA maximum to the sterling FA bonus and presenting the result as a confirmed individual total: they are separate streams, expressed in different currencies, and the player allocation and bonus administration are not detailed as a combined payout.
