Those are dated, self-declared filing figures—not an independently verified estimate of her current net worth.
What did Hema Malini declare in her 2024 affidavit?
MyNeta, an ADR open-data repository, transcribes the 2024 Lok Sabha affidavit with separate figures for Hema Malini and her spouse. For Malini alone, the transcription reports:
- Assets: ₹1,13,60,57,610 (about ₹113.61 crore)
- Liabilities: ₹1,42,21,695 (about ₹1.42 crore)
- Self-reported income in FY 2022–23: ₹1,27,25,100 (about ₹1.27 crore)
These amounts are what the filing reports; the affidavit does not establish a present-day, independently assessed net-worth figure. [MyNeta/ADR affidavit transcription]
Why the household total is not her personal net worth
The same transcription reports combined assets of ₹2,78,93,68,227 (about ₹278.94 crore) and combined liabilities of ₹7,91,89,097 (about ₹7.92 crore) for Malini and her spouse. Because these totals combine both declarations, they should not be presented as Malini’s personal assets or personal net worth. The archive also cautions that its records may not reflect the latest status. [MyNeta/ADR affidavit transcription]

Assets, liabilities and net worth are different measures
An asset declaration is not a cash balance: it can include different kinds of property and other holdings, and the affidavit’s stated valuations are not an independent market appraisal. Liabilities are reported separately. Subtracting the listed liabilities from listed assets can give a rough arithmetic difference for the filing, but it does not turn the result into a verified current net-worth estimate.
Why online figures for Hema Malini vary
A Hindustan Times report published April 5, 2024, gave an asset figure of ₹1,23,61,26,601 and liabilities of ₹1,42,21,695, while describing the amount as ₹142 crore. Its asset total differs from the later-accessed MyNeta/ADR transcription, which separates Malini’s and her spouse’s figures. The inconsistency is a reason to identify the source and whether a number is self-only or combined, rather than repeat a headline figure as settled fact. [Hindustan Times, April 5, 2024]

The affidavit identifies Malini’s profession as actress and lists her self-reported income for multiple tax years. The FY 2022–23 amount is historical tax-return information, not evidence of her current annual earnings. [MyNeta/ADR affidavit transcription]
In a separate analysis of the Rajya Sabha Register of Interests, ADR lists Hema Malini Media Entertainment Private Limited as a TV serial production company in which she held a 50% share. The register also records ₹2,90,00,000 per annum under “Film Artist/Stage Artist/Brand Ambassador.” That is declared professional remuneration in the register for its relevant period, not a current salary or a complete, verified breakdown of her income. How to read the figures responsibly
- Use the self-only figures when describing Malini’s declared assets and liabilities.
- Label the larger asset total as combined with her spouse, not as her individual wealth.
- Keep the filing date attached to the amounts; neither an election affidavit nor a historic income entry establishes today’s finances.
- Distinguish a self-declaration or a news paraphrase from an independent valuation.
