Why the figures do not name a reliable winner
The numbers are not a like-for-like comparison. Cosmopolitan’s list dates to 2022, covers selected performers, and describes some figures as unverified or estimated. Celebrity Net Worth’s later figure covers D’Arcy alone and does not validate the older estimates for the rest of the cast. Neither source provides a common method or verified cast-wide financial data.
Net worth is also different from salary: it is an estimate of assets minus liabilities, while a salary is pay for work. Cosmopolitan wrote in 2022 that HBO had not released episode-salary details for the show. Its suggested salary range was speculation based on other shows and the author’s assumptions, not a confirmed House of the Dragon rate.

Who is in the cast?
HBO’s official series page identifies Emma D’Arcy as Rhaenyra Targaryen, Matt Smith as Daemon Targaryen, Steve Toussaint as Corlys Velaryon, Olivia Cooke as Alicent Hightower, and Rhys Ifans as Otto Hightower. HBO describes the series as based on George R.R. Martin’s Fire & Blood and set 200 years before the events of Game of Thrones.
For the story behind the series, Fire & Blood is the book HBO names as its source material. It offers context on House Targaryen; it does not provide evidence about the actors’ finances.
