Boeing’s latest reported 787 production rate is eight aircraft per month, not the 10-per-month goal it announced for 2026 in December 2024. Eight a month would equal 96 in a full year only if that pace held for all 12 months; Boeing’s filing for the six months ended June 30, 2026, does not establish 96 as its calendar-year production target.
What production rate has Boeing reported for 2026?
In its filing for the six months ended June 30, 2026, Boeing said 787 production had stabilized at eight aircraft per month after a brief slowdown in April and a recovery in May. The company attributed the April disruption to supply-chain shortages and said continuing supply-chain and factory recovery supported the stabilized rate. Boeing’s 2026 filing
Eight per month is a reported production rate, not a stated full-year total. Multiplying it by 12 gives 96 as a conditional annualized figure, but the filing does not say Boeing will build 96 Dreamliners in calendar 2026 or that the rate applied throughout the year.
How does that compare with Boeing’s earlier goal?
On December 12, 2024, Boeing announced a plan to reach a production rate of 10 787s per month by 2026. The later filing’s eight-per-month rate is below that earlier goal. Boeing’s 2026 filing also reports that the company raised the rate from five to seven per month during 2025, then began moving toward eight in the fourth quarter. The latest primary-source reporting here covers the six months ended June 30, 2026. It documents an eight-per-month rate stabilized after the April slowdown, but it is not a separately verified rate for October and does not provide a separate full-year 2026 production forecast. In Boeing’s July 28 second-quarter results release, CEO Kelly Ortberg said, “Our operations are more stable and key certification programs remain on plan.” That statement concerns operations generally; it is not a specific confirmation of the 787 production rate.
