Drive Suits did not become a mass-market product. Creator Drew Baumier accepted Kevin O’Leary’s on-air offer of $150,000 for 30%, conditional on finding a toy-company partner, but later reporting says the deal fell apart during due diligence. The concept then shifted toward performers wearing the suits at parties and events. Whether the associated business, Robots and Cars Entertainment, still operates is not reliably established by the available reports.
What were Drive Suits?
Drive Suits were motorized costumes intended to transform the wearer into a vehicle-like shape. The pitch-era coverage describes a prototype, not a product already being manufactured for retail. Shark Tank Blog reported that a suit could move at about 10 miles per hour; that is a reported product detail, not an independently verified test result. Baumier was also described as entertaining crowds and performing at birthday parties. Shark Tank Blog; Looper
Did Drive Suits get a deal on Shark Tank?
Baumier appeared on Season 4 in November 2012 and sought $150,000. Published recaps disagree about the equity percentage he initially offered: Looper reports 20%, while Shark Tank Blog reports 40%. Both say he accepted O’Leary’s $150,000-for-30% offer, which depended on pursuing a partnership with a toy company. The difference in those accounts means the initial equity figure should not be treated as settled without checking the episode itself. Looper; Shark Tank Blog
Why didn’t the investment go through?
Later reporting says the proposed investment did not close after filming and failed during due diligence. Shark Tank Blog suggests that a lack of interest from toy companies may have played a part, but presents that explanation as uncertain. Looper likewise reports that the toy-company route apparently did not materialize; its August 2022 article said Baumier and O’Leary had not publicly commented on the venture’s fate. There is no reliable basis in these accounts for saying O’Leary completed the investment. Shark Tank Blog; Looper

What happened to the business after the show?
Coverage describes a shift away from trying to sell a broadly available consumer product and toward event entertainment: performers wore the suits at parties and other events. The venture was later associated with Robots and Cars Entertainment, Inc. Looper reported in August 2022 that the company launched in 2016 and was available for bookings at that time. Shark Tank Blog says Baumier continued with event entertainment and reports that the business was out of business by December 2022. Looper; Shark Tank Blog
Are Drive Suits still in business?
The current status is unresolved. Shark Tank Blog reports a December 2022 closure, while Gazette Review’s article, dated October 18, 2022, has a “2026 Update” heading and describes activity based on the company website. That heading is not evidence of a 2026 review, and the website’s current status is not confirmed by these reports. It is therefore not possible to state confidently that Robots and Cars Entertainment is either operating or closed today. Shark Tank Blog; Gazette Review

How did the Sharks’ proposed paths differ?
The discussion presented two different business approaches, not two proven outcomes. Mark Cuban’s approach was to keep doing events while developing the product; O’Leary’s offer focused on pursuing a toy-company partnership. Baumier accepted O’Leary’s offer on air, but that proposed deal reportedly did not close. Shark Tank Blog; Looper
