It arrived on October 29, 2025—the day Alaska Airlines announced that the FAA had issued a single operating certificate covering Alaska and Hawaiian operations. The certificate unified airline operations; it did not end Hawaiian as a passenger-facing brand.
Which flight was Hawaiian’s last under its old callsign?
FlightRadar24 reported that Hawaiian Flight 866 (HA866), from Pago Pago to Honolulu, was the final flight to use the HA/HAL identifiers and the “Hawaiian” callsign. The flight arrived on October 29, 2025. Alaska’s announcement that day confirmed the certificate milestone, but did not identify HA866 as the final flight; that specific flight detail comes from FlightRadar24’s reporting.
What changed on October 29, 2025?
Alaska Airlines announced that the Federal Aviation Administration had issued a single operating certificate (SOC) covering Alaska and Hawaiian operations. A single operating certificate means the airlines’ operations were brought under Alaska’s FAA certificate. Alaska described the milestone as following integration of training, policies, procedures and manuals. The company’s announcement said the airlines would continue as two separate brands.
Operationally, pilots and dispatchers began using Alaska’s AS callsign for both airlines. Hawaiian flights could still retain the HA designator for travelers after the SOC, even as operational communications changed. Alaska also said new flight numbers could be assigned to avoid duplication.

Did Hawaiian Airlines disappear after the certificate change?
No. The SOC unified regulatory and operational arrangements, not the passenger-facing airline brand. Hawaiian continued to be presented to travelers as Hawaiian, with Hawaiian flights available to select and Hawaiian branding retained across customer channels. Alaska’s October 29, 2025 announcement described the airlines as operating under one certificate as two separate brands; Alaska Air Group’s 2025 Form 10-K also documents the milestone and distinct brand positioning.
Hawaiian’s own “Hawaiian is here to stay” information page describes the continuing customer-facing experience. The name Hawaiian therefore did not vanish when the old callsign ended.

How did the later booking and ticketing changes differ?
The shared passenger service system (PSS)—the system supporting reservations and related passenger servicing—was a later integration step, separate from the October 2025 certificate and callsign change.
| Date | Milestone | What it meant |
|---|---|---|
| October 29, 2025 | Single operating certificate and operational callsign transition | Alaska and Hawaiian operations came under Alaska’s FAA certificate; operational communications used AS, while Hawaiian remained a distinct passenger brand. |
| April 21, 2026, 11:59 p.m. ET | Hawaiian ticket-stock cutoff communicated to travel agencies | ARC advised agencies that HA/173 ticket stock would be discontinued after this time and new tickets should use Alaska AS/027 stock. |
| April 22, 2026 | Shared passenger service system took effect | All flights carried the AS code, while Hawaiian remained a selectable, branded experience. |
Alaska announced the PSS transition on April 22, 2026. It said travelers could still select Hawaiian flights presented as “Operated by Alaska as Hawaiian Airlines.” ARC’s February 22, 2026 agency communication gives the separate ticket-stock cutoff. These booking and ticketing changes should not be confused with the earlier end of the Hawaiian callsign.
