The document titled “HR Practices at Social Islami Bank Ltd.” is a student-style account of the bank’s human-resource functions—not a current official HR manual. It describes the HR lifecycle from planning and recruitment to training, appraisal, rewards and discipline, but its detailed procedures should be treated as historical report claims unless confirmed by newer official material.
What the report covers
The report presents human-resource management as a set of connected functions intended to match staffing with organizational needs. Its stated scope includes job analysis, HR planning, recruitment and appointment, training and development, performance appraisal, compensation, and disciplinary action. It also discusses employee motivation, benefits, transfers and postings, staffing, and the organization of the Human Resources Division. These are topics covered by the report, not an independently verified description of the bank’s current operations.
The report uses the phrase “Right person in right place in right time and in right position” to express its staffing objective. It does not attribute that wording to a named bank representative.
How recruitment and appointment are described
The report describes both external and internal recruitment. For direct recruitment, its account outlines a sequence of advertising vacancies, conducting written tests and interviews, making appointments, and carrying out medical checks. It states that candidates needed at least 50% in the written test to pass. That threshold and process belong to the report’s account and should not be taken as current requirements.

Internal recruitment is also discussed, alongside HR planning and staffing. The report does not establish that the same channels, selection stages, or pass mark are used today.
Training and development in the report
The report describes training through an in-house Social Islami Bank Training Institute and external providers, including Bangladesh Bank Training Academy and Bangladesh Institute of Bank Management. The courses it identifies include foundation training for new officers and specialist banking subjects such as foreign exchange, investment, and core risk management.
Rank #2
It reproduces these training figures for 2016:
- 402 employees out of a reported workforce of 2,363 were sent to outside training institutions.
- Nine foundation courses were held for 340 new officers.
- 33 training, workshop, and seminar events involved 1,381 officers and executives.
These are historical figures cited in the student report, not current totals or independently verified bank-wide statistics. The report also contains an ambiguous reference to “1721 employees”; without a clear period and denominator, that figure does not support a reliable comparison and is not used here.
Appraisal, motivation, and employee movement
The report discusses setting performance standards, evaluating employees, providing feedback, and using performance evaluation or KPIs. It says evaluation outcomes could inform promotion and other benefits, and also describes annual confidential reporting. These statements explain the report’s account of appraisal and motivation; they do not confirm the bank’s current appraisal framework or reward decisions.
Rank #3
It also describes a transfer practice associated with spending more than three years in one place. The report does not establish whether that practice remains in force or how it was applied across roles or locations.
What can be confirmed about the bank today
The institution now identifies itself on its official website as Social Islami Bank PLC (SIBPLC), rather than the “Social Islami Bank Ltd.” wording used in the report title. The bank’s website says it has operated since 22 November 1995 and lists 181 branches and two subsidiaries. This current institutional information does not verify the older report’s HR procedures. The site provides a career link, but the material available there does not confirm the recruitment, training, appraisal, transfer, or benefits details described in the report.

How to use the report or its PDF

It may be useful for coursework or as a starting point for studying HRM in banking. For a current policy answer—such as eligibility, selection steps, training availability, or promotion criteria—consult the bank’s latest official career notices or disclosures rather than relying on the report’s historical rules.
