Applications for the High Court of Gujarat’s 2025 Civil Judge recruitment are closed. The online window ran from 12 noon on 1 February to 23:59 on 1 March 2025. The advertisement covered approximately 212 regular vacancies; later notices show the recruitment advanced to a main written examination and an oral-interview shortlist. Candidates looking for a current opening should check the High Court’s Current Openings page rather than treating this 2025 notice as active.

What the 2025 notice offered

Advertisement RC/0719/2024-25 invited applications for direct recruitment to the Civil Judge cadre under the Gujarat State Judicial Service Rules, 2005. The High Court described the total as approximately 212 regular vacancies, existing and future, with a pay scale of Rs. 77,840–Rs. 1,36,520 plus allowances admissible under the rules. These are figures from the recruitment advertisement, not a current vacancy count or a guarantee of appointment.

Vacancies by category

The advertisement’s category-wise vacancy figures were:

Category Vacancies Of which reserved for women
General 87 29
SC 15 5
ST 32 10
SEBC 57 19
EWS 21 7

The women’s figures are included within each category’s vacancy count; they should not be added to the total again. The notice also separately reserved 8 posts for persons with benchmark disability. See the High Court’s recruitment advertisement and vacancy table for the official terms.

How the selection schedule changed

The original advertisement gave a tentative schedule: a preliminary elimination test and Gujarati language test on 23 March 2025, a main written examination on 15 June 2025, and viva-voce in August or September 2025. Later High Court notices superseded those tentative dates: the preliminary and Gujarati tests were listed for 29 June 2025, and the main examination was held on 12 October 2025. Candidates who qualified in the main examination were called for oral interview. The later notices can be followed on the High Court’s Current Openings page.

Examination and syllabus

Written examination

The main written examination comprised two papers. The syllabus’s criminal-law material names both the Indian Penal Code, 1860 and the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, 2023, alongside the Code of Criminal Procedure, 1973 and the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita, 2023. Candidates preparing from bare acts or other study materials should check the official syllabus and ensure editions cover the statutes specified there. The advertisement and syllabus are the appropriate reference for subjects and detailed requirements.

Eligibility timing

A later main-examination notice stated that candidates had to possess the essential qualification by the last date fixed for applications in the original advertisement; otherwise, candidature would be rejected. For the full eligibility conditions and any applicable category-specific requirements, use the detailed advertisement rather than relying on summaries.

What is known about the recruitment now

The available later notices establish that qualified candidates from the 12 October 2025 main examination were called for oral interview. They do not, on their own, establish publication of the final select list or waiting list, or appointment status for every candidate. Check the High Court’s official Current Openings page for subsequent notices. Any newer Civil Judge vacancy announcement is a separate recruitment and should not be confused with this advertisement for approximately 212 posts.
