Global health nonprofit PATH moved its Seattle headquarters to West Dock, a 52,000-square-foot building at 437 N. 34th St. in Fremont. GeekWire reported that the building had been renovated for Tableau in 2014. PATH announced the planned move in February 2024; later reporting says it took place in March 2025.

Where PATH moved—and what was there before

West Dock is at 437 N. 34th St. in Seattle’s Fremont neighborhood. PATH announced in 2024 that it would occupy the full 52,000-square-foot space. GeekWire reported that West Dock had been renovated for office use by Tableau in 2014; PATH’s own announcement described the building and its renovation but did not identify Tableau as a former occupant. GeekWire’s February 2024 report gives the Tableau history.

When the move happened

PATH announced on February 29, 2024, that it planned to move during 2025. That announcement described a future move, not a completed one. In July 2025, GeekWire reported that PATH had moved in March of that year and held an opening ribbon-cutting in July. GeekWire’s July 2025 coverage reports the completed relocation.

How the new headquarters compares with the old one

PATH’s former Seattle headquarters was at 2201 Westlake Ave. in South Lake Union. GeekWire reported that the move reduced the organization’s Seattle footprint from 113,000 square feet to 52,000 square feet.

The reported figures establish a smaller overall Seattle footprint and an expanded wet lab; they do not establish changes in rent, operating costs, productivity, or employee satisfaction.

What the Fremont facility is for

PATH said the new site would serve more than 200 Seattle-area staff and continue to house its laboratory and product engineering lab, along with open collaboration areas. After the opening, GeekWire described the wet lab as 6,000 square feet—20% larger than its predecessor—and able to accommodate about 20 scientists.

In the 2024 announcement, then-president and CEO Nikolaj Gilbert described the intended design: “PATH staff envisioned a space that ignites creativity and fosters innovation—and feels distinctly ‘Seattle,’” PATH’s February 29, 2024 announcement presents that as the organization’s vision for the space, not as a measured outcome.

Why PATH has a Seattle headquarters

PATH says it was founded in Seattle in 1977, and its current U.S. page identifies Seattle as its headquarters. The organization’s scale figures have changed over time: PATH’s 2024 move announcement cited more than 3,000 global team members and more than 47 offices across 24 countries. Its FAQ, accessed October 8, 2026, describes more than 1,300 people and offices in 25 countries. These are dated descriptions from PATH, not directly comparable staffing counts with an explained methodology.
