On 2 December 2025, PerthNow reported that equestrian influencer Kate Redmond and Horsey People had partnered on a Golden Horseshoe Hunt in Karratha, with a $5,000 prize announced for the person who found the hidden horseshoe before Christmas Eve. The report does not confirm whether anyone found it or whether the prize was awarded.
What was announced about the Karratha hunt?
PerthNow reported that Redmond, known as My Pilbara Equestrian Life, would hide a distinctive gold horseshoe at a secret location in Karratha. She was to post clues on her Facebook and Instagram accounts in the lead-up to December 25. The announcement said the finder had to locate the horseshoe before Christmas Eve to win $5,000. These were announced event details, not confirmation of the contest’s eventual outcome.
The report described the event as a real-world treasure hunt intended to give back to regional communities. It also said the horseshoes had GPS trackers and unique verification codes; those operational details are reported by PerthNow, rather than independently confirmed here.
Who could take part, according to the report?
PerthNow said the Karratha hunt was open to local residents aged 18 or older. Reported participation steps were to follow Kate Redmond and Horsey People on social media, then use the clues she posted. The accessible report does not provide a complete set of official terms, so it cannot establish further eligibility rules or entry conditions.

Horsey People founder and director Menashe Segman told PerthNow that the business supports farming families year-round through its partnership with Farm Angels, and described the hunt as a way to bring joy and thank supporters. PerthNow also quoted Redmond saying she hoped the extra money would help someone in the community at Christmas. These are remarks attributed to them by the news report; they do not establish that Farm Angels funded the prize or that any particular product was used in the hunt.
