How grain futures finished on February 7
The report’s featured March contracts were lower for the day. The weekly figures show a different picture for corn and soybeans: both were up over the full week. Wheat contracts were also lower Friday and higher for the week, although the report did not give individual weekly changes for them.
| Contract | Friday settlement | Friday move | Weekly result |
|---|---|---|---|
| March corn | $4.87½ per bushel | Down 7¾ cents | Up 5½ cents |

These are futures prices and changes stated in Successful Farming’s report, not local cash bids or current market quotes. The report does not provide separate weekly wheat figures.
What the report said weighed on prices
Successful Farming attributed pressure on corn and soybeans to South American weather, which its cited commentary also linked to weakness in wheat. It said a stronger U.S. dollar added pressure to soybeans and wheat. Those are explanations reported from Stewart-Peterson Inc.’s Grain Market Insider newsletter, rather than independently established causes.

Trade headlines and the next USDA report were in focus
Traders were watching trade developments ahead of the weekend, against the backdrop of China’s announced retaliatory tariffs and the possibility of negotiations. StoneX chief commodities economist Arlan Suderman summed up the mood: “The markets remain headline driven as we head into the weekend.”
The report also relayed Kluis Commodity Advisors managing director Al Kluis’s comments about trade estimates ahead of the USDA’s expected February 11, 2025 World Agricultural Supply and Demand Estimates (WASDE) report. Those comments describe expectations as of February 7; they should not be read as a statement of what the February 11 report ultimately showed.
