Good Morning America’s leading hosts have been reported to earn millions annually, but ABC has not confirmed the figures. The available reports also do not disclose what GMA producers, bookers, or other staff members make. Here is what the reporting says—and what it cannot establish.
What have Good Morning America’s hosts reportedly earned?
ABC’s official biographies identify Robin Roberts and George Stephanopoulos as co-anchors of Good Morning America. Stephanopoulos is also listed as host of This Week, so a reported annual figure should not be treated as pay solely for GMA.
The salary figures in news coverage are estimates attributed to sources, not compensation disclosures from ABC. The reports differ in date and sourcing:
| Report | Host or hosts | Reported figure | What the report establishes |
|---|---|---|---|
| Los Angeles Times, Dec. 18, 2024 | George Stephanopoulos | Said to earn around $20 million annually | The newspaper reported he had signed a new multiyear ABC News deal. Its report said an ABC representative declined to comment; the salary was attributed reporting, not an ABC-confirmed figure. |
| New York Post report republished by Yahoo, July 31, 2024 | Robin Roberts, Michael Strahan, and George Stephanopoulos | An estimated $17 million to $18 million apiece | The range was attributed to a former ABC News executive. The article did not disclose the hosts’ underlying contracts, and ABC did not confirm the amounts in the cited reporting. |
| Fox News, 2018 | Robin Roberts | Roughly $15 million to $18 million annually | A historical estimate based on a source familiar with her employment agreement; it is not a verified current figure. |
The 2024 estimates should not be combined into a single definitive salary: they come from different reports and sources. Nor do they establish take-home pay, net worth, or total career earnings.

What do GMA staff members make?
The reviewed reporting does not publish individual salaries or a staff-pay table for GMA producers, bookers, or other behind-the-scenes employees. A 2024 report discussed possible job cuts among behind-the-scenes staff, but it did not provide staff salary amounts. Host estimates cannot be used as a proxy for what the wider team earns.
Accordingly, the answer for staff is that their pay was not disclosed in the available coverage—not that they earn a particular amount. The evidence does not support a role-by-role estimate.

Why the distinction matters
Published host figures are reported estimates, while an official ABC biography confirms a person’s role but does not reveal compensation. The reports also describe different moments: the 2018 estimate is historical, and the 2024 coverage does not verify current contract terms or any later pay changes. Treating any of these numbers as a current, confirmed ABC salary would go beyond what the reporting establishes.
