How the Leederville opening fits the business’s history
According to Get Chunky’s Our Story page, founder Kyra began selling cookies at Fremantle Markets in 2017, and the first shop opened in January 2018. The company says Levain Bakery in New York City inspired its large-cookie concept. Kyra’s account of that ambition is: “If I couldn’t afford to go to New York for cookies, I was determined to perfect my recipes and bring New York Style cookies to Perth!”

The company describes its cookies as handmade, hand-weighed and hand-rolled, made with locally sourced ingredients and baked fresh on site. Those are the business’s own descriptions, not independently verified assessments. Its shop page also says a cookie weighs four times as much as a standard cookie, but does not define the comparison cookie or date the claim, so it should be treated as a company-published comparison rather than a universal measurement.
