Grab and Singapore-based restaurant reservation platform Chope confirmed an acquisition on 22 July 2024. The companies did not disclose the price. Grab said the deal was intended to strengthen services for restaurant partners; for diners, the practical changes are that Chope reservations remain available, while deal sales have moved to Grab and Chope rewards are scheduled to end in October 2026.
What Grab acquired—and when
Grab and Chope confirmed the transaction on 22 July 2024. CNA reported that the acquisition sum was undisclosed, and no transaction valuation was published in the sources reporting the deal.
Chope, founded in 2011, offered restaurant discovery, reservations and deals. At the time of the acquisition, CNA described Chope as operating in seven cities: Singapore, Hong Kong, Bangkok, Phuket, Shanghai, Bali and Jakarta. TechCrunch reported that Grab acquired Chope’s Southeast Asian operations, excluding its China and Hong Kong services, and put Chope’s network at 13,000 eateries. Those are acquisition-era reports, not a verified description of Chope’s current footprint or restaurant count.
Why did Grab acquire Chope?
Grab presented the acquisition as a way to create more tools and opportunities for restaurant partners, particularly in connecting online discovery and transactions with in-person dining. A Grab spokesperson told CNA: “We believe the addition of Chope’s products and services provides more synergies for our merchant partners, especially in helping them capture online-to-offline opportunities.”

The spokesperson also described the company’s aim of helping smaller businesses manage and grow more efficiently: “Our focus is to help level the playing field for them through tools that empower them to grow and manage their businesses more efficiently.” These statements explain Grab’s stated rationale; they do not establish that the anticipated benefits have already been achieved.
Chope founder Arif Ziaudeen told CNA that the company sought a partner for sustainable growth: “We evaluated potential buyers and found the best fit with Grab – a company with a mission aligned to ours in connecting restaurants to diners.”
How much did Grab pay for Chope?
The acquisition price was not disclosed. CNA reported the deal as an acquisition for an undisclosed sum, and the sources reporting the transaction did not publish a valuation.
Can diners still make reservations on Chope?
Yes. Chope’s current FAQ says diners can continue discovering restaurants and making reservations through Chope. The current service information distinguishes reservations from deal sales: the reservation service remains on Chope, while Chope deals were consolidated onto Grab.

The last day to purchase Chope deals was 30 September 2025, according to Grab’s migration page. Existing purchases remain valid through the expiry dates stated for those deals. The change moved deal sales to Grab; it did not mean that previously purchased deals automatically expired on the last purchase date.

Chope’s FAQ says diners can earn Chope-Dollars on eligible bookings attended before 15 October 2026. The final earning day is 14 October 2026; from 15 October 2026, Chope-Dollars rewards and membership tiers are scheduled to end.

Eligible restaurant bookings made through Grab Dine Out can earn GrabCoins under Grab’s stated terms. Bookings made on Chope do not earn GrabCoins. The rewards are therefore tied to where the eligible booking is made, not simply to dining at a restaurant that appears on both services.
What is known about Chope’s scale?
Acquisition-era reports provide some context, but they should not be read as current operating statistics. CNA listed seven cities for Chope in 2024. TechCrunch reported 13,000 eateries at the time of the acquisition; that is a reported historical figure, not an independently verified present-day count. Current operations in every country have not been established here.
