What were Zynga Game Cards?
Zynga Game Cards were prepaid products players could use to pay for digital goods in Zynga’s online games. In its July 28, 2011 account, GamesBeat reported that Zynga had teamed with Gate2Play, a company based in Amman, Jordan, to distribute them in the region.
A contemporaneous July 29 report named Empires and Allies, CityVille, FarmVille, and Mafia Wars as games in which cards could pay for virtual goods. These are examples from the 2011 coverage, not a current list of games that accept Zynga cards.
Which countries were included in the launch?
GamesBeat’s 2011 report named 16 markets: Algeria, Bahrain, Egypt, Iraq, Jordan, Kuwait, Lebanon, Mauritania, Morocco, Oman, Palestine, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Tunisia, the United Arab Emirates, and Yemen. It reported card values of $2, $5, and $10. Those figures describe the launch coverage; they do not confirm current prices or products.

Could players buy cards as e-PINs?
Yes. The 2011 reports described two purchase channels and delivery forms:

Why use prepaid cards?
The launch coverage presented prepaid cards and e-PINs as another way to pay for game purchases in markets where credit-card payment was described as less common. In the July 29 report, Gate2Play CEO Muhannad Ebwini characterized small-value prepaid cards, bank transfers, and SMS or mobile payment as preferences among many regional online users. That is an executive’s description in a historical report, not a measured statistic about payment habits across the region.
GamesBeat quoted Ebwini saying, “The pace at which the Middle East’s social gaming market is growing represents a significant opportunity for both Gate2Play and Zynga.”

Can you still buy or redeem a Zynga Game Card in the region?
Current regional availability is not established by the available reports. The 2011 coverage documents the launch, not an ongoing Gate2Play program, and does not verify present-day retailer stock or active e-PIN sales.
Zynga’s posted Game Card Terms describe general conditions for card codes: a code provides a limited license to use virtual currency in participating Zynga games and must be redeemed in one transaction. The terms state that users must be at least 13 and have a valid social-network account; cards do not expire and redemption carries no fee; cards cannot be redeemed for cash, and redeemed balances are non-transferable. The page carries a 2021 copyright notice. It does not verify that a MENA offer is currently sold or redeemable, nor that these terms governed the 2011 launch.
