Gelato Messina’s Victoria Park store opened on July 17, 2025, at 893 Albany Highway, East Victoria Park. It was the company’s second Western Australian store, following Highgate; Messina now lists three WA locations, including Leederville.
When did Gelato Messina open in Victoria Park?
The Victoria Park gelateria opened on July 17, 2025, at 893 Albany Highway, East Victoria Park. Messina announced the opening as its second WA store and promoted a 40-flavour cabinet, gelato cakes, shakes, merchandise and limited-edition Messina x Tony’s Chocolonely Cookie Pies. The official announcement records the opening and launch offerings; some were time-limited rather than continuing menu guarantees.
What was on the opening menu?
Messina’s launch announcement described a 40-flavour cabinet. PerthNow’s report ahead of opening specified 35 classic flavours and five rotating weekly specials. The number is a menu count, not a measure of customer demand.
The opening special was Rotto Buns, available exclusively at Victoria Park for one week. Messina described it as cream-bun gelato with whipped cream and raspberry purée, inspired by Rottnest Island’s cream buns. That was a launch-week offer, not a current menu promise.

Why did Victoria Park follow Highgate?
Highgate opened first, at 497 Beaufort Street, on November 17, 2023. Messina called it the company’s first Perth location and highlighted daily churning in Perth and its Victoria dairy farm as part of its production story.
Victoria Park followed roughly 20 months later. Before the opening, owner and brand custodian Declan Lee told PerthNow: “Vic Park was always where we wanted to open our first door, to be honest.” He said the team had searched for sites in Victoria Park, opened Highgate after finding a suitable location there first, and later secured a Victoria Park site when one became available. PerthNow described a strong local response but did not provide a quantified measure of footfall, sales or queues.

How many Gelato Messina stores are in WA now?
Victoria Park was the second WA location at opening, but it is no longer the newest listed store. PerthNow reported in January 2026 that a Leederville store was planned; Messina’s current locator lists Leederville alongside Highgate and Victoria Park.
