Cyrus Nikou founded Atar Capital in 2016 after seven years at Revolution Capital Group. As Atar’s founder and managing partner, he oversees or advises its mergers and acquisitions, corporate development, and general operations. The firm says it invests in lower-middle-market businesses and pursues operational transformation, including carve-outs, divestitures, and turnarounds.

Who is Cyrus Nikou?

Nikou is the founder and managing partner of Atar Capital, a private investment firm. Atar’s biography of Nikou says he founded the firm in 2016 and advises or oversees its M&A, corporate development, and general operations.

Atar lists WinCup, Pathways Health & Community Support, Keypoint Intelligence, Frontier Integrity Services, and Solero Technologies among the companies Nikou advises. These are examples from the firm’s biography, not a guarantee that each remains a current holding or that Nikou has the same role at each today.

How did he get to Atar Capital?

Seven years at Revolution Capital Group

Before Atar, Nikou was a co-founding partner at Revolution Capital Group for seven years, according to his personal biography. It says he led deal origination, managed capital commitments with the firm’s private-equity group, and oversaw day-to-day operations. The biography does not give the dates of that tenure.

It names Maysteel Industries, Tampa Media Group, and Dove Professional Apparel as Revolution portfolio companies. Those examples help describe the experience presented in the biography; they do not establish that Nikou currently works with those businesses.

Education and personal background

The same biography says Nikou was born in Vancouver, British Columbia, grew up in the Los Angeles area, and earned a bachelor’s degree in business administration and corporate finance from the University of Southern California’s Marshall School of Business. It also says he supports Los Angeles-area nonprofits and serves on the board of Sierra Canyon School; these are biographical claims from that source.

What does Atar Capital invest in?

Atar describes itself as a global private investment firm partnering with lower-middle-market businesses seeking growth, revitalization, and value creation. Its June 1, 2026 announcement emphasizes operational transformation, particularly complex carve-outs, corporate divestitures, and operational turnarounds.

In practical terms, that framing points to work on businesses or divisions where a transaction and changes to operations are central to the investment case. The sources describe Atar’s intended approach; they do not independently assess how successful its transformations have been.

What scale does Atar report?

Published figures vary by source and should be read as distinct snapshots, not combined into a single current tally. Atar’s June 1, 2026 announcement reports 12 companies, more than 14,500 employees, more than 90 transactions, and activity across 18 countries. The announcement does not define the transaction count as acquisitions, and these are company-reported figures rather than independently audited figures in the cited material.

Nikou’s personal biography, which has no visible publication date, separately reports a dozen companies, more than $1.5 billion in combined annual revenues, and more than 13,000 employees. The Los Angeles Business Journal’s LA500 2026 search-result entry, dated May 11, 2026, says Atar has completed more than 60 carve-outs; the page was not available in full in the reviewed material. A carve-out count and a total transaction count are not equivalent measures, so neither should be treated as a correction or breakdown of the other.

How does Atar describe its social-impact goals?

Atar’s biography describes its focus as socially responsible investing and sustainable solutions. Its 2026 announcement names respect, integrity, sustainability, responsiveness, and performance as principles, and presents social and governance considerations as part of value creation. These statements explain the firm’s stated philosophy, not independently measured social or environmental results.

In the June 2026 announcement, Nikou said: “Atar Capital’s focus has always been about making the businesses we partner with fundamentally stronger, more sustainable, and more impactful for the people who work in them and communities they serve.” In a May 2025 interview notice, Atar attributed another statement to him: “I am a firm believer that companies can innovate in a way that both benefits today’s consumers and builds a better world for future generations.”

What can a reader conclude from the available profile?

Nikou’s public profile connects private-equity deal work and operating responsibility: his biography describes origination and day-to-day management at Revolution, followed by founding Atar and overseeing or advising its M&A, corporate development, and operations. Atar presents its investment approach as hands-on transformation in the lower middle market, with sustainability and social impact among its stated aims. The published biographies and firm announcements establish how Nikou and Atar describe that work, but do not by themselves verify current portfolio ownership or the outcomes of the firm’s impact goals.
