That is a publisher’s estimate, not a verified estate total: the available sources do not provide probate records, an asset-and-debt inventory, or a transparent calculation independently confirming it.
What was Franco Columbu’s net worth?
The figure most often cited is $10 million, attributed to Celebrity Net Worth as Columbu’s estimated net worth at the time of his death in 2019. The site describes its figures as estimates based on public sources and, when available, private tips and feedback. It does not establish this amount as an audited valuation or a sum documented in public estate records. Celebrity Net Worth’s Franco Columbu profile was accessed in 2026.
Accordingly, the careful answer to “How much was Franco Columbu worth?” is that one estimate put his net worth at $10 million, but the figure has not been independently substantiated in the sources reviewed. Other pages repeating the same figure do not, by themselves, verify it.
Why the estimate is not a confirmed estate value
Net worth is the value of a person’s assets minus liabilities at a particular point in time. An estate value is a related but distinct measure, shaped by what a person owned and owed at death and by the records available to establish those amounts. The $10 million figure is presented as a net-worth estimate at death; the available sources do not show that it was calculated from an estate inventory or probate filing.

#1 Best Overall
No underlying financial statements, asset breakdown, debt information, or calculation method was located to independently check the estimate. There is also no documented annual earnings series or verified investment portfolio in the sources reviewed. Those gaps mean the estimate should not be treated as a confirmed total, or divided among career activities as if their individual contributions were known.

Columbu was an Italian-American bodybuilder, actor, author, and chiropractor. He won Mr. Olympia in 1976 and 1981, competed in the inaugural World’s Strongest Man in 1977 and placed fifth, and appeared in films including The Terminator and Conan the Barbarian, as well as the bodybuilding documentary Pumping Iron. The Associated Press reported that he died in Sardinia in 2019 at age 78 after becoming ill while swimming. The Associated Press obituary covers his death and career; a Guardian retrospective describes his connection with Arnold Schwarzenegger and their bricklaying work after moving to the United States.
Rank #2
These facts help explain why Columbu’s career spanned several fields, but they do not reveal what he earned from bodybuilding, acting, chiropractic practice, authorship, or business. The sources do not support a reliable dollar amount for any one of those activities. His book Franco Columbu’s Complete Book of Bodybuilding is part of his documented writing legacy, not evidence for the net-worth estimate.
