Is Michael Bay returning to Transformers?
Bay could return, but his involvement is not confirmed. The current reporting describes early talks about directing, not a completed agreement. Bay directed five earlier live-action Transformers films, which explains why reports of discussions have drawn attention, but his past work is not evidence that he has committed to this project.

The distinction matters: “in early talks” signals a possibility, not a casting or directing announcement. The report about those talks is carried by Transformers.TV, which aggregates trade reporting; the Associated Press account of the studio news does not confirm a Bay deal.
What did the Paramount-Skydance merger have to do with it?
August 2025 reporting said Paramount had multiple Transformers scripts in development during the Paramount-Skydance merger period, with one project associated with Bay. That was development reporting—not confirmation that a particular film had been greenlit or that Bay had signed on. The report was surfaced in an IMDb news aggregation summarizing MovieWeb and Collider coverage.
