A March 2025 report described a sale with a US$3.5 million starting bid and a US$4.65 million reserve—figures below $5 million, but neither is a confirmed sale price. A separate court-listed business-branch sale used euro-denominated terms. The available records do not confirm whether the whole business branch ultimately sold or whether it is available now.
What “under $5 million” means
New Atlas reported on March 24, 2025, that Energica liquidation assets were offered with a US$3.5 million starting bid and a US$4.65 million reserve. Those are reported auction terms, not evidence that a buyer paid either amount or that the entire company changed hands. New Atlas’s report also cited an assessed liquidation value of €660,758 for tangible assets. That reported assessment is not a market valuation or a completed business-sale price.
A separate listing for a January 30, 2025 business-branch sale used different terms and euros. The figures should not be treated as competing estimates of one confirmed transaction: they concern different sale terms and potentially different stages of the process.

“Under $5 million” is therefore a shorthand for a reported dollar-denominated bid/reserve threshold. It is not a verified acquisition price, a company valuation, or proof that the whole business was sold for less than $5 million.

What the business-branch sale included
The Court of Modena sale notice described a business branch for studying, developing, designing, producing, and commercially selling high-performance electric motorcycles and motors for road use and competition. The related Enti e Tribunali listing described a broad operating package, including equipment, registered trademarks, patents, proprietary software, domains, customer and supplier information, goodwill, and a 100% interest in Energica Motor Company Inc., the US importer.
New Atlas also described motorcycles and prototypes, spare parts, inventory, and manufacturing equipment among the liquidation assets. Examples in its report included test equipment, a laser marker, vertical storage systems, and bikes or prototypes associated with the Ego Corsa, SS9, Eva Ribelle, and Experia. These are descriptions of reported liquidation inventory, not a complete verified inventory or an indication that those items remain available to buy.

Why Energica was in liquidation
The creditor portal identifies procedure 101/2024 as a judicial liquidation opened on October 22, 2024, in the Court of Modena, with Giuseppe Cigarini listed as receiver. New Atlas likewise reported that Energica entered judicial liquidation in October 2024. Its account describes Energica as established in 2009 and as the sole MotoE supplier from 2019 through 2022; Ducati took over as supplier in 2023. The procedure record displays later hearings, including one listed for June 3, 2026, but a procedural-calendar entry does not establish the result of the business-branch sale.

The available records do not establish whether the whole business branch sold, who might have acquired it, or whether it is currently available. The liquidation procedure record remains relevant, while later judicial listings concern individual assets—including incomplete motorcycles, components, and an Experia—not proof of a completed whole-branch sale. Enti e Tribunali’s later listings should not be read as confirmation of the business-branch outcome.

Because court-sale status can change, anyone considering an acquisition should check the live Court of Modena procedure and the receiver’s sale records before relying on an asking price, availability, bidder, or buyer. A listing or a stated reserve describes terms at a particular point in a process; it does not establish the eventual outcome.
