Ferrari inaugurated its new e-Building at its Maranello headquarters on June 21, 2024, after reporting an investment of €200 million. The plant is designed to make production more flexible across combustion, hybrid and electric cars—not to increase output. Ferrari has not established that it will shorten development timelines for new models.
What is Ferrari’s e-Building?
The e-Building is a manufacturing facility at Ferrari’s Maranello site in Italy. Ferrari says it can support production of internal-combustion, hybrid and electric vehicles, as well as electric motors, batteries and axles. Its purpose is to let the company adapt manufacturing to different powertrains and customer specifications within one facility. How much did it cost?
Ferrari CEO Benedetto Vigna told ANSA the e-Building represented a €200 million investment. The assignment’s $214 million figure is an approximate dollar rendering, not an amount Ferrari reported in dollars; the cited sources do not establish an exchange-rate date or conversion method. Ferrari’s 2024 annual report says the facility has more than 40,000 square meters of floor space and a 1.3-megawatt rooftop photovoltaic system. Separately, the Emilia-Romagna Region described a broader Maranello investment program of up to approximately €500 million during 2022–2025, with an estimated 250 new employees. Will it speed up new-car development?
The facility may help Ferrari manufacture different kinds of vehicles and powertrain components more flexibly, but that is not the same as evidence that a new model can be developed faster. Vigna said the aim was not to increase production capacity, but to give Ferrari more flexibility to customize cars for clients. Ferrari has not said that the e-Building has shortened model-development schedules.
Ferrari’s separate New Technical Center has a more direct development-and-testing role. The company’s 2024 annual report says it added 8,000 square meters to that center in 2023 to support electrification development and component testing. What Ferrari has said about future models
Ferrari’s October 2025 Capital Markets Day set an average target of four new car launches per year from 2026 to 2030. It also set a 2030 lineup target of 40% internal-combustion, 40% hybrid and 20% electric models.
