Amazon Prime Day 2025 in the U.S. ran from Tuesday, July 8 through Friday, July 11, 2025. Amazon said the event began at 12:01 a.m. Pacific Daylight Time and lasted 96 hours. It was the first four-day U.S. Prime Day. Prime Day 2025 has ended, so the prices and promotions below are historical examples—not current offers or guaranteed savings.
Prime membership was required for Prime Day-exclusive deals, although ordinary Amazon coupons, retailer promotions, and some third-party offers could have had different eligibility rules. The event also did not use one worldwide schedule: dates varied by country.
Amazon Prime Day 2025 was longer and more heavily segmented than the familiar two-day U.S. events that preceded it. The U.S. sale lasted four days, Amazon added daily themed deal drops called Today’s Big Deals, and some selected periods saw new deals appear as frequently as every five minutes. Amazon also promoted early offers, small-business deals, services, travel, grocery, and a special Prime for Young Adults promotion.
That does not mean every July discount was a Prime Day deal, every product received the advertised maximum discount, or that the sale was identical in every Amazon marketplace. The useful way to evaluate the event is to separate Amazon’s promotional claims from the actual price of a specific model at checkout.

When was Amazon Prime Day 2025 in the U.S.?
Amazon Prime Day 2025 began on Tuesday, July 8, at 12:01 a.m. PDT and ran through Friday, July 11, 2025, in what Amazon described as a 96-hour event. The official U.S. announcement called it Amazon’s first four-day U.S. Prime Day and its longest U.S. event to that point.

The event’s practical U.S. window closed at the end of July 11 in Pacific Time. “Midnight July 8” was therefore not the correct start time for every U.S. shopper; the announcement used Pacific Time as the reference.
Prime Day 2025 dates by country
There was no single global Prime Day window. Amazon announced participation in 26 markets, with 20 markets beginning on July 8 and six markets—including India, Brazil, Mexico, Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, and Egypt—scheduled later in the summer. The global announcement and Amazon’s date-specific market announcement are the appropriate references for the international launch groups.

Dates, prices, shipping, taxes, payment methods, warranties, return rights, and Prime eligibility can all differ by marketplace. A July 8–11 price on Amazon.com was not automatically available to a customer shopping on Amazon.ca, Amazon.co.uk, Amazon.in, or Amazon.com.mx.

Prime Day was Amazon’s member-focused shopping event, with special offers restricted to Prime members. It was separate from several other types of promotions that are often grouped together in search results:
- Early Prime Day deals: offers that appeared before the official U.S. event began.
- Ordinary Amazon coupons and Lightning Deals: these could appear during July without being part of the Prime Day-exclusive program.
- Prime Big Deal Days: Amazon’s separately named October shopping event, sometimes informally called “October Prime Day.”
- Black Friday and Cyber Monday: separate annual retail periods that may have offered better prices on particular products.
- Retailer-wide July sales: discounts from Best Buy, Walmart, Target, Costco, manufacturers, and other sellers that were not necessarily Amazon Prime Day promotions.
For that reason, it is more accurate to call a discount “a Prime Day deal” only when it was specifically part of Amazon’s Prime Day event or its published Prime Day promotions.
What changed during Prime Day 2025?
1. The U.S. event doubled the usual two-day format
Amazon described Prime Day 2025 as the first four-day U.S. event. The longer window gave shoppers more time to compare prices, but it did not mean every deal lasted four days. Many offers were limited by time, inventory, product variation, or seller participation.
2. Today’s Big Deals added daily themed drops
Amazon introduced Today’s Big Deals, themed collections that launched daily at midnight PDT for Prime members. They were limited-time offers and were available only while inventory lasted, according to Amazon’s description of the 2025 changes.

It also created a practical reason to check the event page more than once—but not a reason to buy without checking the final price, seller, model, and return terms.
3. Selected deals could refresh as often as every five minutes
Amazon said new deals could appear as frequently as every five minutes during selected periods. This was not a promise that each product’s price would change every five minutes, nor that every category would refresh at that rate. It meant that some parts of the event could have a much faster-moving inventory than a normal product page.

4. Prime for Young Adults offered a targeted cash-back promotion
Eligible U.S. customers ages 18–24 could receive a six-month Prime trial and, after the trial, a discounted Prime price of $7.49 per month or $69 per year. Amazon also advertised a limited-time 5% everyday cash-back benefit and an additional 5% Prime Day bonus in eligible categories, for a possible 10% total cash back during the event.
The possible 10% was not a universal discount on every Prime Day purchase. It depended on eligibility and qualifying categories. Amazon’s 2025 Prime Day changes announcement contains the applicable program details.

Amazon said U.S. Prime members with access to Alexa+ could request personalized deal recommendations, track products saved to a cart or Wish List, and receive a notification when an item reached a preferred price range. Amazon said more than one million U.S. customers had access at the time. Feature availability and eligibility varied, so Alexa+ was an optional discovery tool—not a requirement for finding or purchasing deals.
Official U.S. Prime Day 2025 deal categories
Amazon’s previews used “up to” percentages. Each figure below was a maximum advertised discount for selected products, not an average discount across the entire category. A category maximum could apply to one model, size, color, seller, or bundle while other products had smaller discounts or none at all.

These figures come from Amazon’s official U.S. deal preview and June 30 deal announcement. Because Prime Day 2025 is over, they should be read as a record of what Amazon advertised in July 2025, not as current prices.
Amazon’s published Day 1 deal examples
Amazon’s Day 1 recap highlighted several specific examples:
- A Sony 65-inch 4K TV at 57% off.
- Levi’s Women’s 501 Original Shorts at 58% off.
- A Samsung 14-inch Galaxy Chromebook Go at 37% off.
- A Philips coffee machine and milk frother bundle at 50% off.
These were Amazon’s published Day 1 examples, not a definitive list of the best deals across all four days. The price, stock, exact configuration, and seller were temporary. Any current article or shopping page that displays one of these figures should label it as a historical Prime Day 2025 price rather than implying that the offer remains live. Early Prime Day promotions
Amazon began promoting some offers before July 8. These should be called early Prime Day promotions, not evidence that the official U.S. event had already started. Amazon’s early promotion list included:
- Barbecue essentials starting at $3.
- Grocery and household essentials priced under $5.
- Swimwear starting at $12.
- School technology starting at $15.
- Up to 40% off selected school supplies.
- $20 off selected “Build Your Dorm” purchases of $100 or more.
- Early small-business deals running from June 23 through July 6.
- Up to 30% off selected Amazon-owned brands.
Starting prices and percentage discounts were limited to selected items and terms. As with the main event, the relevant question was the final price of the exact product—not the lowest advertised starting price in a broad category. Details appeared in Amazon’s June 16 announcement.
Service, subscription, travel, and grocery offers
Prime Day 2025 was not limited to physical products. Amazon also advertised offers in services and local spending categories, each with separate eligibility, timing, geographic, and redemption requirements.

- Kindle: Up to 25% off selected Kindle products.
- Amazon Music merchandise: An additional 20% off selected apparel, CDs, and vinyl through the Amazon Music app.
- Travel: Avis discounts and Amazon gift-card rewards, Amtrak coach-fare savings, selected hotel discounts, and Carnival Cruise Line savings of up to $1,200 per room.
- Whole Foods Market: Amazon’s post-event recap said Prime members could receive 50% off all ice cream and frozen desserts.
- Amazon Fresh: Amazon reported a $30 discount on purchases of $150 or more.
None of these offers should be generalized into a permanent Prime benefit or an across-the-board grocery, travel, or delivery discount. The official deal preview and post-event recap provide the historical context.
Did you need Amazon Prime?
For the U.S. 2025 event, Amazon listed the standard Prime price as:
- $14.99 per month
- $139 per year
- A 30-day free trial for eligible customers
Amazon also listed the following reduced or targeted options:
- Prime for Young Adults: A six-month trial for eligible customers ages 18–24, followed by $7.49 per month or $69 per year.
- Prime Access: $6.99 per month for eligible customers receiving government assistance or with qualifying verified income.
A standard Prime membership could be worthwhile for someone who would use the shipping, streaming, grocery, or other benefits beyond a single discount. It is not automatically economical to subscribe solely to capture a large-looking percentage off one purchase. Compare the membership cost, cancellation terms, and the actual savings on the item you planned to buy.
The crucial distinction is that Prime Day-exclusive deals required Prime membership; not every discount displayed on Amazon required Prime. Ordinary coupons, retailer promotions, and some marketplace offers could follow their own rules.
How to tell whether a Prime Day deal was genuinely good
A large percentage beside a product does not establish that it was the lowest available price. Use this checklist for any historical deal—or for evaluating a future sale using the same method.
- Confirm the exact model. Check storage, screen size, generation, color, bundle contents, included accessories, and condition. A 128GB device and a 256GB device may have very different values even when their product names look similar.
- Check recent price history. Compare the event price with the product’s actual recent selling prices. A crossed-out list price may not represent the price shoppers normally paid.
- Compare competing retailers. Check Best Buy, Walmart, Target, Costco, the manufacturer, and authorized retailers where appropriate. A competing July sale may beat Amazon’s headline discount.
- Calculate the all-in cost. Include sales tax, delivery charges, required accessories, coupons, subscription requirements, financing costs, and any payment-method restriction.
- Review seller, condition, warranty, and returns. Marketplace sellers, renewed electronics, cosmetics, supplements, and other categories can have materially different support and return terms.
- Consider timing. Some products may be cheaper during Black Friday, Cyber Monday, a model-clearance period, or a competing retailer’s sale. A Prime Day discount can be good without being the lowest price of the year.
- Ask whether you needed it anyway. A 40% discount is not a saving if the purchase was unnecessary, incompatible with your existing equipment, obsolete, or missing a required accessory.
NBC Select said it checked price history and limited its selected recommendations to highly rated items at least 20% off. Forbes Vetted likewise described checking price history and warned that many offers were less compelling. Those articles are useful examples of evaluation methods, but their individual prices were snapshots from the 2025 event and should not be treated as current. A practical Prime Day shopping workflow
Before the event
- Write down the exact product model, configuration, and acceptable alternatives.
- Add the product to a Wish List, cart, or Save for Later so you can monitor it.
- Record its current price and the prices at competing retailers.
- Check whether the seller is Amazon, the manufacturer, or a marketplace seller.
- Read the return policy and warranty information before the sale begins.
- Confirm whether Prime membership is required and whether you qualify for a trial, Prime for Young Adults, or Prime Access.
- Set a personal maximum price. This reduces the chance that a countdown timer or large percentage will override your budget.
During the event
- Use the official Prime Day event page or the Amazon Shopping app rather than relying only on a third-party deal headline.
- Create deal alerts for recently viewed or searched products. Amazon said shoppers could create alerts from the event page in the app.
- Check Today’s Big Deals at the daily midnight-PDT launch.
- Recheck during periods when Amazon said selected deals could refresh every five minutes.
- Before placing the order, verify the exact variant, seller, condition, coupon, delivery date, and final checkout total.
- Make sure a coupon or promotional code was actually applied. A discount shown on the product page may require a checkbox, code, eligible payment method, or minimum purchase.
- Do not assume a countdown timer means the same product will never return at a similar price. Limited-time messaging can describe the current promotion without proving that it is the only opportunity.
Amazon also said Alexa could notify eligible users up to 24 hours before a deal became available for products saved to a Wish List, cart, or Save for Later. Its deal-finding guidance explains the alert and Alexa features that were available at the time.

Confusing “up to” with the typical discount
“Up to 50% off” identified a maximum for selected products. It did not mean that most products in the category were half price. Use language such as “Amazon advertised discounts of up to 50%” and then check the exact product.
Comparing the wrong variant
A product page can include multiple colors, capacities, sizes, bundles, sellers, and conditions. The advertised discount may apply to only one variation. Compare like for like, including accessories and warranty coverage.

Forgetting the coupon or promotion condition
The displayed percentage may exclude a coupon that must be manually selected, a payment-method discount, a Prime Visa or other card benefit, a subscription requirement, or a promotional code with geographic restrictions. The checkout total is the meaningful number.
Assuming every deal lasted four days
The U.S. event lasted four days, but Today’s Big Deals and other offers could end sooner because of time limits or inventory. A product could also be sold out even while an article about it remained online.
Treating early promotions as the official start
Early offers ran before July 8, including small-business deals from June 23 through July 6. They were related to the Prime Day campaign but were not the official four-day U.S. event.
Using a U.S. deal on another marketplace
Amazon.com prices and Prime benefits do not automatically transfer to Amazon.ca, Amazon.co.uk, Amazon.in, Amazon.com.mx, or other marketplaces. Taxes, delivery, payment methods, warranties, and returns can change the effective value.
Assuming Amazon’s claims are independent price research
Amazon called Prime Day 2025 its biggest Prime Day ever, said customers saved billions, and reported record sales and more items sold during the expanded event. Those are claims from Amazon’s corporate post-event announcement. They should be attributed to Amazon rather than presented as independently audited conclusions.
Are the 2025 deals still available?
Prime Day 2025 is over. The U.S. event ended July 11, 2025, and its event-specific prices, coupons, inventory, and service promotions are no longer guaranteed. Some products may later return to similar prices, but a historical Prime Day price is not evidence of a current discount.

Any current article that republishes a July 2025 deal should label it clearly as a historical Prime Day 2025 price, price observed during the July 2025 event, or no longer guaranteed. It should not use an expired “buy now” button or a live-looking affiliate link without checking where the link currently leads and what price is displayed.
Prime Day versus Black Friday and Prime Big Deal Days
Prime Day was Amazon’s July member event. Prime Big Deal Days was Amazon’s separately named October event. Black Friday and Cyber Monday were broader retail periods involving Amazon and many other retailers. None of these labels proves that one event was better for every product.
The best comparison is product-specific: look at the item’s recent price history, current competing prices, model age, seller, warranty, and the likelihood of clearance or a newer version. A Prime Day price could be excellent for one category and unremarkable for another.
What the event meant for a household budget
Prime Day can reduce the cost of a planned purchase, but it can also encourage unplanned spending. A simple budget test is:
