Bloomberg reported on July 21, 2025, that Elliott Investment Management had increased its Equinix stake and was seeking steps to improve shareholder value. The report did not establish the size of Elliott’s total position or confirm a specific demand. It is a dated account—not evidence of Elliott’s position or engagement with Equinix today.
What did Bloomberg report?
On July 21, 2025, Bloomberg reporters Ryan Gould and Crystal Tse, citing people familiar with the matter, reported that Elliott had built up its investment in Equinix, a data-center real estate investment trust, and was pushing the company to take steps to boost its share price. The sources described Elliott as one of Equinix’s top ten investors, but Bloomberg could not establish the exact size of its holding or its intentions. Data Center Knowledge’s republication of the Bloomberg report also characterized the engagement at that time as collaborative.
How much Equinix stock did Elliott own?
The figure reported was 150,000 shares, or about 0.2% of Equinix, disclosed as of March 31, 2025. That is a dated disclosed holding, not a confirmed total or current position. The Bloomberg republication noted that Elliott often invests through derivatives that may not have to be disclosed and could result in a larger position. It said the exact holding could not be learned. Data Center Knowledge
What changes was Elliott reportedly seeking?
The report described possible steps Elliott might support, not formal demands confirmed by the company or Elliott. The possibilities included improving margins, a share buyback, or adjusting Equinix’s recently announced capital-expenditure plan. The report did not establish which, if any, Elliott favored. Elliott’s representative declined to comment in the republication, and it included no direct Elliott quotation. Data Center Knowledge
